Biography:
Joe Don Baker was born on February 12, 1936 in Groesbeck, Texas, a small town about 25 miles east of Waco.
Baker went to North Texas State Teacher's College (now University of North Texas), dabbling in drama there. After a stint in the Army, he moved to New York, where he studied at the Actors Studio. He got his Broadway start in Marathon 33 and received praise for his role in the Burgess Meredith-directed Blues for Mister Charlie in 1964.
