Joss Stone

Biography: Joss was born in Dover, Kent, England to parents to parents Richard and Wendy Stoker. She attended school at Uffculme Comprehensive School where she first performed live. Joss’ first big break was at the young age of fourteen when she was on the British talent TV show Star for a Night. After this she headed for the United States in 2002 and singed a record deal with S-Curve Records. Her first album The Soul Sessions was a moderate chart success after being released in late 2003. Joss' next album Mind, Body and Soul was released in late 2004 to even more critical and financial success. This time around Joss had become a much more important part in the creative aspect of writing the album. The albums success made Joss an internationally renowned soul artist and a Grammy nominee at the age of just 17. For Joss’ next album she made sure the she had all of the creative control behind it. Joss stated that the album titled Introducing Joss Stone was “truly her”. The album was released in early 2007 and made history as the highest charting on the Billboard 200 for a British female artist ever with a debut at #2.
