Biography: Judd Hirsch was born March 15, 1935. He is an American actor best known for playing 'Alex Rieger' on the show Taxi. He played the title character on the sitcom Dear John and the father of Jeff Goldblum's character in Independence Day. Judd also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Ordinary People. Judd currently portrays Alan, the wise patriarch of the Eppes family, on the hit CBS crime drama Numb3rs. He is married and has two children.
