Biography: Born and bred in Birmingham, England, Kate Ashfield is a British stage, TV, radio, and film actress who is most popularly known for her role as Liz in the cult classic zombie-themed romantic comedy Shaun of the Dead opposite Simon Pegg. In her stage work, Kate has been associated with the In-yer-face theatre movement which stages productions in a more shocking and bold approach with the use of extremely provocative language and images. One of her early appearances was in the controversial Royal Court production of Blasted in 1995. She has been part of several television and movie projects in and out of England. Kate made her film debut in John Wells' Princess Caraboo in 1994. Since then, she has made strides in her TV and movie acting career. Her first major Hollywood film project was Beyond Borders opposite Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen. As of 2008, Kate has been living in London.
