Ken Foree

Biography: Ken Foree, best known for his starring role in the George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead and many TV appearances over nearly 30 years, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1946. His acting career was started by an odd series of events. Three months after opening a photography lab in Manhattan in summer 1974, it was robbed of everything. Trying to decide his next step, he ran into an actress friend, who encouraged him to come along with her to an off-Broadway audition. The director gave him a part, and his acting career was launched.

He took formal training at Michael Shulman's Performing Gallery in New York, and worked as an assistant manager at a Greenwich Village. Before landing the role of Peter in Dawn of the Dead, he worked on The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings alongside Richard Pryor and James Earl Jones, and had a guest starring role on an episode of TV's Kojak. Although mostly known for his work in horror films, he has performed in lighter fare, such as
the Nickelodeon series Keenan and Kel and General Hospital. He currently lives in Los Angeles. Expand
