Angle joined the WWE (then called WWF) in November of 1999 and made his PPV debut at the Survivor Series. He defeated Shawn Stasiak in a pretty dreadful match. One month later at Armageddon, he notched his second PPV victory against The "Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman. His first defeat came at the world famous Madison Square Garden at Royal Rumble 2000 against Tazz. However Angle claimed he was still undefeated as he had been choked out by Tazz, meaning Tazz should have been disqualified.

Angle struck gold for the first time in the WWF on an episode of Smackdown on February 8th 1999 when he defeated Val Venis for the European Title. Things got better for Angle just 19 days later as he defeated Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title at the No Way Out 2000 PPV. Angle now called himself a "Eurocontinental champion."

Things however went downhill fast for Angle as at Wrestlemania 16, he had to defend both of his titles in a 2 fall Triple Threat match - First fall was for the Intercontinental Title, second fall was for the European Title. Chris Benoit claimed the Intercontinental Title, Chris Jericho claimed the European Title. Angle left with nothing.

On June 25th of 2000, Kurt became the King Of The Ring, defeating Chris Jericho, Crash Holly and Rikishi within the space of 2 hours.

In August at Summerslam came his first WWF Heavyweight Title Match. It was a Triple Threat match between himself, Triple H and The Rock who was the champion at this time. Angle got injured very near the start of the match after a Pedigree but Helmsley went wrong on an annoucers table. This left Angle dazed and he had to be treated by EMT's. Angle later returned to the match but The Rock still claimed victory to retain the title.

However Angle did claim the gold on October 22nd at No Mercy 2000 when he defeated The Rock in a very good match.

His first PPV WWF Title defence was the Survivor Series 2000. He defeated the Undertaker when he crawled under the ring and Undertaker pulled out who he thought was Kurt but it actually turned out to be Kurt's brother Eric. He gave Eric the Last Ride but Angle came out from the otherside of the ring and rolled up Undertaker and hooked the tights for a famous victory.

But, without a shadow of a doubt Angle's most famous Title defence came one month later in Birmingham, Alabama at Armageddon 2000 in a Hell In A Cell match. But this was no ordinary Hell In A Cell match. This one had six of the best superstars - Stone Cold, Triple H, The Rock, Undertaker and Rikishi. What a match this was. Angle claimed victory when he pinned The Rock after a Stone Cold Stunner.

His third PPV Title defence was at the Royal Rumble where he successfully retained the title against Triple H.

Angle's reign came to an end at No Way Out 2001 where he was defeated by the man he had defeated for the title just 4 months earlier, The Rock.

At Wrestlemania 17, Angle defeated Chris Benoit by hooking his tights. Angle should've lost this match when he tapped out to the Crippler Crossface but the referee was out of commission at the time.

In addition to being a WWE Superstar, Angle is a spokesperson and marketing consultant for Protos Foods Inc., GNC and a few other sport nutrition companies.

Due to his strong public appeal, Angle has been a featured guest on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Conan O'Brien Show and on MTV.

Angle graduated from Clarion University in 1992 where he received his B. S. in Geography.

Kurt still resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
