Lalla Ward

Biography: Lalla was born the Hon. Sarah Ward, daughter of Lord Bangor and his lady, the writer Marjorie Banks. She attended the Central School of Speech and Drama, London, from 1967 to 1970, then got a part in the Hammer film Vampire Circus (1971). Lalla appeared in a 1974 film called Got It Made, which was later reissued under the title Sweet Virgin, with love scenes featuring new actors. (In 1981, she won a libel action against a magazine, Club International, which had run nude photographs from the movie, claiming them to be of her.)Lalla's biggest and best-remembered role was as the second incarnation of Romana in the British television series Doctor Who. She left in 1980, but in December of the same year she married the show's star, Tom Baker, then playing the part of The Doctor. This marriage lasted only until 1982 and ended in divorce. Lalla continued to act, for the BBC and on stage, and she also began to write and to illustrate books. In 1992, she married Dr Richard Dawkins, anLalla was born the Hon.
