Mick Jagger

Biography: Mick Jagger, also known as Sir Michael Philip Jagger, is singer for the influential rock band The Rolling Stones. Jagger has a long musical career that spans 50 years, two dozen albums with the Stones, several personal albums, a large number of singles, and film appearances. He was born July 26, 1943 in Dartford, England. He attended primary school with Keith Richards, guitarist and founding member for the Stones. The Rolling Stones made their first appearance under the name in 1962, with the original band of Jagger, Richards, Brian Jones, Dick Taylor, and Ian Stewart, and Tony Chapman. The popularity of the band led to the solo career of Jagger, which began in the 1980s. Jagger has performed alongside a large list of singers and artists, such as B.B. King, Michael Jackson, will.i.am, David Bowie, and Lenny Kravitz. Jagger has appeared in many films, including starring roles in Performance, Ned Kelly and numerous documentaries based on the Stones. Mick created his own film company with Victoria Pearman called Jagged Films. Jagger was knighted in 2003 for services to music. His knighthood generated controversy due to the nature of his music, and the lack of philanthropic works common to most who receive the honor.
