Mike Birbiglia

Biography: Mike Birbiglia, a graduate from Georgetown University who now resides in New York's Greenwich Village, has been writing since he could pick up a pencil. As a kid he wrote poems and mini-plays and drew pictures of bears and his family and the girls he liked at school. As an adult, Mike has written the one-man show "Sleepwalk With Me" and currently writes his own Secret Public Journal on his website Birbigs.com.

It’s hard to do anything new in comedy, but what has set Mike apart is his soft spoken, self-deprecating style. Branded as "wholesome/edgy," Mike's comedy is "based on his childlike curiosity tempered with an adult's understanding of the world's complexities." Mike also has an effortless ability to coin a phrase. He’s been credited with the terms “Cracker please,” “Olive Garden Italian” and “Baldological Clock” (as in, “my baldological clock is ticking”) His fans call this language “Birbiglian” and his legion of “Crackers with Attitudes” has made Mike one of most
popular college acts in America, donning him “Comedian of the Year” by Campus Awards.com.

Mike was discovered by legendary Comic Strip Live manager and talent booker Lucien Hold who also discovered Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Adam Sandler. Mike is also one of the most popular standup comedians to appear on Comedy Central having done two "Comedy Central Presents" specials (one in 2003 and one in 2006). He has also hosted the network's Friday Night Standup lineup and appeared in promos sponsored by Twix.

Mike has two comedy albums including the self-produced "Dog Years". His upcoming second album, which is being produced by Comedy Central Records, should be out in 2006.
