Miley Cyrus, born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee, is an American singer and actress. She is the daughter of country music star, Billy Ray Cyrus. Nicknamed "Smiley" as a baby, the nickname would stick and ultimately be changed to "Miley" when she began her professional career. Her first appearance as an actress came in the television show Doc, in which her father starred. Her big break came in 2006 when she was cast in the Nickelodeon television show, Hannah Montana. She starred on the show for five years, becoming a pop star in the process and releasing three successful albums. In 2009, her concert film, Hannah Montana: The Movie, became a smash at the box office. In 2010, Cyrus attempted to change her goody-two-shoes image by starring in the romantic drama, The Last Song. Though a critical failure, the film proved to be a commercial hit. Since its release, Cyrus has continued to adopt a more adult and sensual persona, despite her tender age.
