muMs

Biography: Known to fans as Poet, of the acclaimed HBO series "OZ", Craig Grant aka muMs, took the star off his dressing room door, placed it on his chest and moved on when the show was done. He went back to regain his place in the passion-driven profession where he received notoriety before HBO exec, TOM FONTANA, implanted him on the screen. Poetry. muMs is a lover of language and the written word--so much so that he left college to pursue the art form. Using life as a classroom, he pooled experiences and observations to recreate them on paper--in the form of hip hop. However, his exposure to spoken word changed his pursuit of a rap career. What began as revolutionary rhymed verses, evolved into free verses delivered under the spotlight of underground spoken word arenas. He was home; the illegitimate prodigal son of Shakespeare has returned. muMs has performed on HBO's critically acclaimed "Russell Simmons' DEF POETRY JAM"--sharing his rendition of spoken word. Hard pressed to educate admirers and aspirants of the craft, he has also performed at over 150 Colleges and Universities nationally.

In due diligence to portray poetry on a different spectrum, muMs has brought his poems to life. As Playwright and Producer he developed the five-man play entitled IN THE LAST CAR, which won the audience award for Best Play at The Downtown Urban Theatrical Festival (2002).

As Executive Producer and Writer muMs has also visually materialized a poem with the short-film MORNING BREATH.

The list of accomplishments for MORNING BREATH is quite significant regarding the film festival circuit; Honorable mention received at Sundance (2002), winner in the best short film category, Arizona International film festival (2002) and The Chicago International film festival (2002).

Along with Partner and friend Andre Royo, muMs has written a new short film entitled LOVENESS, exploring cupids role in the urban relationship.

With this new endeavor the wordsmith muMs plans to not only elevate his art form to a new level but to also show Hollywood a fresh voice in storytelling.
