Paul Giamatti

Biography: Paul Giamatti is the son of A. Bartlett Giamatti, the youngest president of Yale University and later, the 7th Commissioner of Major League Baseball. His mother, Toni Smith, was a teacher at Hopkins School. Before his career took off, he attended Choate Rosemary Hall (a boarding school), was an English major at Yale, and received a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama. Afterwards, his career received a boost when Howard Stern praised Giamatti's performance often on his radio program, calling for him to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Kenny "Pig Vomit" Rushton in his film "Private Parts". Although that would never happen, he would later go on to appear in supporting roles in big-budget films such as The Truman Show, Saving Private Ryan, The Negotiator, and others. His most acclaimed performances to date include his lead roles in American Splendor and Sideways. He has won a SAG award for Best Supporting Actor for Cinderella Man but lost the Academy Award and Golden Globe to George Clooney.
