Talisa Soto was born Miriam Soto in Brooklyn, New York on March 27, 1967. At the age of 15, Soto signed a contract with Click Model Management and began modeling during summer vacations. She had a very successful modeling career, appearing on the covers of American and British Vogue, British Elle, Mademoiselle, Self and Glamour magazines. In 1988, Soto decided to get into acting and auditioned for and landed the role of India in her feature film debut, Spike of Bensonhurst, a comedy which starred Sasha Mitchell and Ernest Borgnine. The next year, Soto was cast as Lupe Lamora opposite Timothy Dalton as secret agent James Bond in the blockbuster hit Licence to Kill. She followed her appearance in Licence to Kill with a role in The Mambo Kings, which starred Armand Assante and Antonio Banderas. Soto has appeared in a number of other high-profile films, including Don Juan DeMarco, Mortal Kombat, Sunchaser, Vampirella and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. Soto met actor Benjamin Bratt while the two were filming the movie Pi√ëero, and they married on April 13, 2002.
