Tim was born on June 22, 1956, in Washington, D.C., to Air Force officer Walt and his wife Josephine, who works for the state of California. Over the years, Tim and his younger siblings Michael and Angela grew up on several military bases all over the world. During all of these moves, he graduated from Izmir High School in Turkey, and received his diploma from Rome Academy in New York. After graduating from high school, he attended Saint Edwards University and earned a B.S. in Theater Arts but pursued theater studies at Illinois State University.
Tim's very first professional job came while attending St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas where he appeared in a PBS Masterpiece Theater production, but he did not seriously start pursuing an acting career full time until 1985. He is best known for his role on Star Trek: Voyager as the ever stiff but likable Vulcan security officer Tuvok, and also for his many varied roles and works as a sci-fi director. Tim is also a highly accomplished musician and has released several albums over the last few years.
Tim lives in Los Angeles, California where his whole family is also located. Besides making the occasional acting appearance and playing with his band, Tim has been primarily focusing on writing/directing new films.
