Tom Hertz

Biography: After college, Tom spent a year working for the Hartford Insurance Group in the mid 1980s. He decided insurance was not what he wanted to do for the rest of his life, so he started trying standup comedy: first in Connecticut and later moving to New York City.

After six years or so of performing on the standup circuit, fellow comedian Richard Jeni asked Tom to write some material for him. Soon, other comedians tapped Tom as a comedic resource: MTV's The Jon Stewart Show, The Stephanie Miller Show, The Larry Sanders Show, and HBO's Dennis Miller Live.

After picking up an Emmy for Comedy Writing in 1996 for Dennis Miller Live, Tom switched gears again and began writing for network tv sitcoms. His first show, Spin City, took Tom from executive story editor to executive producer. Tom continued writing and producing on ABC's Less Than Perfect until in the spring of 2003, when ABC picked up his show Married to the Kellys. Tom is not only writer and executive producer for
his latest show, he is also the creator of the show and the composer of the show's title song. Expand
