Trevor Nelson

Biography: Trevor Nelson's status as a main player in British music has not been acheived overnight. Trevor began DJing from an early age but his career really began when he started up the Madhatter sound system, putting on big warehouse parties. It wasn't long before he found himself DJing on the then pirate Kiss FM on the 'graveyard' shift. Passionate about his music and the station he soon had the studio set up in his flat, however the station was eventually closed down, continuing his heavy DJ schedule he really made his name playing at the infamous Soul II Soul Sunday night jam at the Africa Centre.
The friendship he built up with front man Jazzie B culminated in them working together setting up the second Soul II Soul shop in London. In 1990 Kiss FM eventually became legal and Trevor was offered a daytime show as well as a directorship. His experience soon led him to Cooltempo where he became club promotions manager and eventually head of A&R, signing Lynden David Hall.
