Trish Stewart

Biography: Trish starred on the Young and the Restless from its inception in 1973 through 1978, left to star as Mel Slozar on Salvage 1, returning to Y&R in 1984. Her background is fascinating. While a student at the Sorbonne in Paris in the early 60's, she frequently visited with her parents (her Dad, truly a Southern gentleman, was a career Air Force officer and dentist) and her Mom, Charlie, one of the most fun-loving, beloved of women on the planet, directed the air base bible school.
After capturing the heart of this writer, Trish went on to begin her magical career, first as an international flight attendant on Pam American Airways, then as a guest on such TV shows at the Dating Game and later the Match Game and Love Boat, Trish was selected from among the multitudes to star as Chris Brooks in the then newly created Y & R. As the music for the opening rolled each day, a sketch of beautiful Trish filled the screen.

One of her most memorable acting performances was when the script called for her rape and viewers were riveted to their television screens and many openly wept by the reality she projected. All shopping came to a halt in department stores across the country as the reality of her acting filled thousands of screens in the stores' appliance departments.

Another memorable and most touching episode dealt with Trish's wedding to Snapper Foster. Again, viewers wept, this time with joy for her hoped for happiness.

Trish had two brothers and one sister, Cathy. This writer had the privilege of frequenting the French outdoor markets with Trish, her siblings and parents and sharing stories and laughter with a truly wholesome American family living in a foreign country.

I fondly recall meeting Trish for the very first time; she was helping out by teaching at the Sunday School and I was a last minute substitute teacher as well. I had known her Mom and Dad through the military. We finished our teaching assignments and went into the small, nearby town of Evreux where we had the longest lunch on record, some four hours, at Chez Maxime, owned by the sweet, quite stout Madame Ragault, the twinkle in whose eyes let us know that she knew this was not just any lunch.
