Indianapolis 500 Legends (Nintendo DS)

In Indianapolis 500 Legends, players assume the roles of 30 of the sport’s most daring real-life legends like Al Unser, A.J. Foyt and Parnelli Jones as they draft, dodge and slingshot through a virtual minefield on a track where speeds of up to 180 miles per hour defined racing’s frontier mentality. Experience crashes, upsets and thrills with mission-based racing that puts you in the middle of some of the Indy 500’s most famous and infamous moments. Drive the last of the front-engine roadsters; experiment with the first turbine cars or strap on the earliest sets of bolt-on wings. But buckle up - back then the rules were few, protection was a luxury and making it to the finish line was never guaranteed. [Destineer]

Critic Reviews

63 GameZone
Pretty tight controls and at least some relevant use of the Stylus. The game is not real innovative and becomes repetitive and boring.
54 My Gamer
I don’t know how to put this nicely…but Indianapolis 500 Legends is just a terrible game. Really, there’s just not much that it does right, and not even racing fans would find this especially fun.
50 IGN
In the end though, Indy 500 Legends is still constrained on DS as it was on Wii, as its historic roots make it true-to-form, but thin on overall fun.
50 Gaming Nexus
With its poor controls, ugly graphics and limited track list, Indianapolis 500 Legends is not one of the better Nintendo DS racing games.
49 Game Positive
Indianapolis 500 Legends seems to be founded upon some interesting ideas, but the game ultimately suffers from far too much repetition. Between the graphics, sound and dull gameplay, Legends is one of the most average games ever created for the DS; absolutely nothing stands out.
48 Cheat Code Central
Indianapolis 500 Legends is not for everyone. Although it's an arcade racer that virtually anyone can pick up and play, the excitement of driving around the same old track, year after year, wears off in a few hours.
45 NintendoWorldReport
Indianapolis 500 is still fun, but only if you can overlook the very limited scope of the game.
