Paint by DS (Nintendo DS)

Paint by DS is a digital colouring book which enables the player to recreate masterpieces by renowned artists such as Hokusai, Cezanne and Van Gogh, in their own artistic style. The player uses the DS stylus to mix oil and water-based paints to create colours and consistencies and then paint the artwork. Paint by DS consists of 15 colouring in challenges along with a variety of fun mini games, such as puzzles based on the famous artwork included in the game. [Mercury]

Critic Reviews

80 AceGamez
Paint by DS is absolutely accessible regardless of age or gender and comes highly recommended - if it doesn't blow the casual gaming market open even further then I'll eat my French beret!
54 Games Master UK
Another non-game for the DS that leaves us slightly puzzled. [Mar 2008, p.84]
40 EuroGamer
Even the best endeavour seems futile in the face of a clunky control system and a lack of strong visual feedback. To call it a relaxing piece of leisure software doesn't excuse it, either.
30 Pocket Gamer UK
Pint-sized Picassos may be enticed by Paint by DS but it would be a crying shame if they were to neglect real-world artistic endeavours in favour of this limp product.
30 Thunderbolt
While it presents a few neat ideas, Paint By DS is disappointing on nearly every level. It's dull, boring, and what's more, absolutely heartless.
30 NGamer UK
This game is still proof of how inaccurate the touch screen is capable of being, although we must admit that it is kind of relaxing. [Apr 2008, p.77]
