Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (GameBoy Advance)

As Harry Potter, players will hone their magical skills and advance through three terms of study during Harry's first year at Hogwarts. Each term will challenge players to meet a number of objectives, such as collecting and mixing potions with Professor Snape or piloting a flying broom through the Forbidden Forest in search of Neville Longbottom's Remembrall. In order to pass the first year of study, players must complete over twenty-nine different objectives, while avoiding enemies and obstacles. [Electronic Arts]

Critic Reviews

89 GameZone
Knowing the story is a great asset here, but I feel that anyone can enjoy this one. The colors, characters and environment add to the challenge of the quests.
80 Nintendo Power
Fans will be spellbound by the game's attention to detail. [Dec 2001, p.170]
70 GamePro
Pottermaniacs will love exploring even a 2D version of Hogwarts, but be prepared for challenging and sometimes frustrating gameplay.
65 Pocket Games
The GBA version is less than enchanting. [Spring 2002, p.34]
60 IGN
The actual game design lacks the plot's originality, as it depends on basic ideas to drive the adventure for hours.
60 All Game Guide
The overall design and presentation is the game’s strong point and helps to make up for the fact that there isn’t a whole lot of substance underneath.
54 GameSpot
While visually and aurally sound, and at times impressive, Harry Potter's GBA debut is neither innovative nor particularly compelling from a gameplay perspective.
52 Electronic Gaming Monthly
Fans looking for a quick ride through the events of teh book and movie will be pleased with Potter GBA, because that's all it is. [Feb 2002, p.172]
