Democracy 2 (PC Games)

Do you crave power? Could you do a better job of running the country than the people currently in charge? Are you sick of corrupt politicians making stupid decisions that benefit only themselves? Could you keep enough of the population happy to win re-election, and still turn around the economy and deal with the national debt? Be warned it's not as easy as it sounds...Democracy 2 is the ultimate political strategy / simulation game. Based on a complex Neural network, the game simulates the motivations, loyalties and desires of everyone in the country. As president or prime minister, it's your job to balance the need for income from taxes against the demands of the voters. Do you want your country to be an eco-friendly green paradise? or a socialist utopia? Will you pander to the patriots, the liberals or the religious pressure groups? Can you keep crime under control without destroying the civil liberties of your citizens? [Positech]

Critic Reviews

80 PC Gamer UK
An important game that should be taught in schools. [Feb 2008, p.77]
71 Pelit (Finland)
A fun and educational game, with much too little to do and try. [Feb 2008]
64 Gamer 2.0
When all is said and done, Democracy 2 far outshines Democracy 1 in every way imaginable. Positech expanded on gameplay, added a handful of new features, and made all the information presented more complex yet easier to manage at the same time.
60 Thunderbolt
While the game is intriguing and addictive at first, it fades too fast because there isn't that much substance to it.
60 EuroGamer
Despite plentiful opportunities for satire, none of the in-game text or images raise a smile.
