A below-par racer with a uniquely hardcore heavy metal soundtrack, but precious little else going for it. [Dec 2006, p.107]

Quite simply it's choppier than the maiden voyage of the Poseidon... A poor man's "Twisted Metal." Steer clear. [Dec 2006, p.95]

Worst of all other cars on the track pelt you with missiles that are impossible to avoid. Not much fun at all. [Dec 2006, p.100]

Yes, it's a budget title, but it's also so cheap and shoddy it's practically unplayable. Many of the tunes and video clips can only be accessed by playing through the game, so save your 15 notes and download them off the 'net instead - legally, of course.

Every aspect of the game has been implemented in the worst way possible, with gameplay that is basic, embarrassing visuals and a premise that is so awful it should be sent to spend its days in the morbid environments the tracks are set in.

Unfortunately, for the moshers and metalheads of the gaming world, Earache: Extreme Metal Racing is a huge disappointment. Even if you're a death metal fanatic you should still avoid this monstrosity like the devil himself.

To sum up: Bob the Builder is regularly more extreme and hardcore, snail racing is more exciting and action-packed, and I've seen more sincerity and genuine passion about subject matter from double-glazing salesmen.
