Fable: The Lost Chapters (Xbox)

In this role-playing adventure game from Lionhead Studios, every action determines a character's skills, appearance and morality. A character's life story is created from childhood through adulthood and on to old age. One can grow from an inexperienced child into the most powerful being in the world, spoken of by all and immortalized in legend. As additional story and side quests await, so too does the path of righteousness, as well as the life of evil. With every choice, a character transforms into a reflection of his actions and decisions. Age leaves characters wizened and battle leaves characters scarred in the world of Fable: The Lost Chapters. Critic Reviews

100 GameShark
The Lost Chapters looks as good as the original game, which still can hold its own against any other game released on Microsoft's game system.
93 Game Chronicles
For gamers like me – who simply like to have a deep, challenging and fun romp through a mystical and medieval world – Fable fits the bill perfectly.
93 Xbox Evolved
Don’t expect this game to be different from everything you’ve ever played before, but you can bet that Peter Molyneux’s vision has laid a few blueprints that will contribute much to the future of gaming.
91 Talk Xbox
If you simply can’t get enough Fable, then by all means give the developers and publisher some more of your hard earned cash.
90 TeamXbox
The weight of the game increases quite a bit with the addition of The Lost Chapters so fans who were deterred from a purchase when the first game was released now should have all the reason they need to go pick up a copy.
90 PGNx Media
The game addresses one of the chief concerns of the first Fable, its length.
90 Gamers' Temple
The Lost Chapters is a novel game and will draw you in in ways other games can’t. It’s an interesting experience and well worth your time.
90 Computer and Video Games
If you're a Fable virgin now's the time to pick up one of the most unique, entertaining games to appear on Xbox. [Official UK Xbox Magazine]
89 GameZone
I was once obsessed with the idea of Fable. Now that a new version of it has been released and still hasn’t delivered on the promises of Peter Molyneux, it’s a tad disappointing.
88 Game Informer
Fable is still one of the defining role-playing adventures of this generation. And even more so if you go evil. [Jan 2006, p.150]
88 Gaming Target
Essentially a great expansion pack that adds some cool and funny new content to what is already a top-tier RPG. The new content is basically window dressing – albeit excellent window dressing.
86 IGN
Fable is an incredibly fun RPG that wooed us when it first hit the shelves and should attract countless others with this update.
83 Gaming Horizon
While the main game can take about 15 hours at most to beat, completing all of the additional side-quests may take you up to three times as long.
83 Worth Playing
While Fable veterans will likely be able to speed through the original content to get to the new stuff with a weekend rental, newcomers should definitely buy it.
82 VGPub
For those who only played as one alignment, this is an excellent chance to play as the opposite. But for anyone who invested a great deal of time with the original, there isn’t enough new content to warrant picking up.
82 Xbox Solution
I enjoyed playing the game again and seeing things that were not available the first time around.
80 Official Xbox Magazine
It's great fun to build your own good or evil hero, and with the Lost Chapters content, there are easily 20-plus hours of fun to be mined out of it. [Jan 2006, p.58]
80 Games Radar
The story is tightly linear, so it's hard to make your character's tale your own.
80 Game Over Online
For the twenty dollar price tag, Fable is worth it if your expectations are realistic and you understand what your dollars are buying: a typical action RPG that plays like Zelda and looks and sounds quite beautiful, but is not the groundbreaking change in the way role-playing games are done as its creator once promised.
80 DarkStation
This expansion adds a few sidequests and features, but doesn't do much else to address the original's shortcomings. Might be a fun choice for new fans.
80 Xbox World Australia
It’s still the same game it always was...for better or worse...and the core experience- the mechanics, the visuals, the sound, the ego- remain entirely unchanged. Make no mistake: this is just Fable, with a fancy subtitle and some new content.
80 GameSpot
This updated version of Fable is better than the original, since it extends the game's main quest, but the world of Albion isn't necessarily worth revisiting if you've been there already.
75 Loaded Inc
Doesn’t do much different from the original.
75 Gaming Age
Hardcore fans of Fable should check this out, however, along with those few of you buried underneath rocks when it originally released.
70 eToychest
While the game’s extra content and sense of freedom are is exceptional, its bugs and glitches are so severe that they will tax the patience of all but the most devoted player.
70 Cheat Code Central
It's certainly one of the best RPGs out there and there's no doubt that some novices will consider it the best RPG they've ever played.
70 RPG Fan
RPGs as indistinct and shallow as Fable are rare, and for good reason.
