Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Xbox)

Players enter fantastical free-roaming 3D environments from Harry's world. Players become Harry Potter and delve not only into Harry's world, but also into his personality, via an internal "voice." Conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, shopping in Diagon Alley, and exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwarts, players make crucial and independent decisions within Harry's world. Additionally, Harry can, of course, cast spells against foes - but these spells must be perfectly executed, or they could be miscast with humorous or critical consequences! Mini-games within levels can be revisited, so players can help Mrs. Weasley with "de-gnoming" her garden, challenge other students in Professor Lockhart's Dueling Club, or complete other mini-games again and again. If you want to truly experience the Harry Potter universe I can't image having better access to it than this game. It's almost magic.
88 GameZone
With a great story and plenty to do, the replay value makes this a game worthy of a purchase.
87 IGN
A very well done 3D adventure game filled with a fun quest, challenging puzzles and an intuitive control scheme and magic system.
83 Entertainment Weekly
For Quidditch fans, there's a thrilling version of the aerial sport. [15 Nov 2002, p.144]
80 Electric Playground
It captures the environments of Hogwarts well and I had a blast knocking Draco Malfoy on his butt in the duel in Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
80 Play Magazine
Of all three games, the Xbox version is the clear winner, with perfect frame rates, the lowest load times, the best resolution and the best textures, but the 'Cube game runs a close second, a refreshing turn of events. [Jan 2003, p.76]
80 Total Video Games
A great game, it just doesn't break any new ground.
75 Official Xbox Magazine
Controlling Harry is easy enough - however, the in-game camera can be a bit rough. [Feb 2003, p.75]
73 GameSpot
The game's impressive visuals on the Xbox coupled with its rich gameplay definitely make it one of the better platform games on the system.
70 Xbox Nation Magazine
Despite little replay value, Chamber nonetheless provides a gratifying ride. [Feb/Mar 2003, p.84]
70 GamePro
If you’re a Harry Potter fan with Buddha-like patience, you’ll likely love this game.
68 Gamer's Pulse
There are similarities to last year’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone game on PC, but the gameplay and environments are more refined and enjoyable.
60 TotalGames.net
As a game for adults who have little interest in Harry's mythology and hype, The Chamber of Secret is a nice looking game which is too linear and far too easy to follow to offer any real challenge.
