Critic Reviews

70 Team Xbox
As far as movie based games go, The Incredible Hulk is better than most in recent memory. As far as comic based games go, it's not bad either. Still, when compared to the last Hulk game, it feels like the game's already been done before, and on the last generation of consoles as well.
70 Games Radar
While annoying, the lock-ups don't really do much to dampen how outlandishly fun the game is. If you like the Hulk and you enjoying destroying things, you'll enjoy your time with The Incredible Hulk, even if you have to reset the system from time to time.
70 Destructoid
Even as a non-fan, I've been finding my time as the jolly green git rather enjoyable and have found plenty to like about it. It's definitely worth a weekend's smashing and bashing, at the very least.
70 DailyGame
The game is fun and being the Hulk as never been such a chaotic thrill. However, the horrible voice acting and corporate Achievement schemes will bring even the Hulk to his knees.
70 Games Master UK
Just don't expect a sophisticated experience. [Aug 2008, p.70]
68 Game Informer
The word “good” should never be used when describing this game, but “entertaining” definitely fits it. Who doesn’t love smashing stuff? The Hulk does it better than anyone, and it’s captured quite well within this game.
65 Kombo
So while Incredible Hulk isn't a bad game, it's actually several steps backward from the last Hulk title. If you are a Hulk fan, this is a definite rental. But if you want the true Hulk experience, stick with Ultimate Destruction.
65 Official Xbox Magazine
Demolishing a city may make for a fun weekend rental, but not quite an incredible one.
65 Gamer's Hell
Technical problems plague audio, visual and gameplay aspects, wholly detracting from a game with a nothing-special mission structure.
64 Planet Xbox 360
If you are looking for a 3D version of Rampage, The Incredible Hulk is right up your alley. Before you get too excited, ask yourself exactly how long you could stand to play the old city destroyer before getting bored. That is exactly as long as you will enjoy this one.
60 GameZone
A very half-baked game that is very repetitive and becomes boring to play. The only fun this game offers is destroying everything in sight, but that gets old after a while.
60 AtomicGamer
Edge of Reality seems to simply not have had enough time or money to do anything original with The Incredible Hulk.
60 IGN
Though Hulk is a serviceable game that can be enjoyed over a weekend, it feels outdated.
60 GameDaily
As moviegoers walk away from the film hoping to continue the adventure, this Hulk is far from incredible.
59 Xbox360Achievements
The game has major issues. The graphics aren't that great and the realism is non-existent, the voice acting is plain awful and boring and the freezing/frame-rate issues are inexcusable.
59 Xbox World 360 Magazine UK
Hulk himself is a terrific creation. The game that surrounds him? Not so much. [Sept 2008, p.75]
58 Worth Playing
Running around as a green, humanoid wrecking ball in New York's sandbox of steel and concrete castles can be fun for a while until it starts feeling like a repetitive exercise in dealing with missions that try and enlist the Hulk as a nanny for stolen gear or have him destroy yet another group of bad guys who don't have the good sense to stay out of his way.
58 1UP
A ton of side missions offer varying entertainment value, plenty of doodads to collect and power Hulk up with, and even a few cool alternate character skins for the green guy to wear. But I can't just quietly ignore the fact that a similar, but far better Hulk game (the best superhero game, for my money) sits on my shelf at home, and is readily available for anyone to track down.
58 GameTrailers
It’s fun to run around as the Hulk in an open world, harassing pedestrians and tearing the city apart with your bare hands, but with its uneven pacing, dull missions, and sloppy presentation, The Incredible Hulk won’t keep most players interested for long.
58 Cheat Code Central
To call The Incredible Hulk a bad game would be a bit too harsh. Instead, it is an aggravating, shallow, repetitive, buggy, and yet somehow moderately entertaining title.
55 GameSpot
You won't like it when this simplistic, repetitive, and occasionally broken game makes you angry.
50 Totally360
All in all, approach "The Incredible Hulk" game for what it is, and don't expect miracles even though smashing things never really goes out of fashion and never proves to be anything less than fun.
50 EuroGamer
The poor technical quality of the game isn't quite enough to dim the innate amusement of thundering around New York as the Hulk, but it's certainly enough to drop this from "long awaited next gen remake of a great game" to "yet another movie tie-in that's only really good for a weekend rental".
50 Official Xbox Magazine UK
Seriously, there's nothing incredible about this. [Aug 2008, p.79]
50 Game Revolution
Like so many Hollywood Summer blockbusters: It starts with a cool idea (Hulk destroying stuff) but, from there, grinds to a halt in terms of delivering on its promise. I won't say it's a bad game, because you can get a couple hours of fun out of it running around smashing stuff, but none of it stands out as being exceptional, or even well-done.
50 VideoGamer
You'll get moments of fun simply from being Hulk, but this isn't enough to carry the whole game. The incredibly disappointing presentation is sadly the final nail in Hulk's coffin.
50 MS Xbox World
If you absolutely must play it, then I'd recommend nothing more than a rental.
50 AceGamez
The Incredible Hulk is the kind of game that you play for the hell of it but never really manages to blow your mind. Fun, flawed, clumsy, and effortlessly violent, Hulk does exactly what you'd expect and if wanton destruction is what you're looking for then give it a whirl.
48 Xbox World Australia
Unfortunately the truly shoddy product that shipped to retail is unlikely to please anyone: it's buggy, glitchy, poorly optimised and visually unimpressive from a technical standpoint, and the missions are boring and the combat is repetitive too.
40 DarkZero
Bugs ruin fun.
40 Edge Magazine
After a few hours its lack of variation, poor technical accomplishments and above all its deadening mission repetition make for a hulking disappointment. [Aug 2008, p.96]
40 X360 Magazine UK
Bizarrely this Hulk game isn’t as much fun as Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, and it wasn’t exactly brilliant anyway. You’re best off just watching the film and leaving this alone.
40 Gamervision
The shame of it is if Sega had just allowed Edge of Reality to copy and paste the formula from Ultimate Destruction, this game would’ve been awesome. Instead, they saw what came before them and trembled at the thought of following it up.
40 G4 TV
If every mission is going to take place around the same five blocks, try giving the different areas a bit of character instead of exploding walls. Make bosses that are fun to beat up and not just another thing you throw cars at until they stop moving. Just getting rid of the multitude of minor glitches could have easily raised the score.
40 GameSpy
Unfortunately, there isn't much to this game's rendition of New York that hasn't been done better in other games.
30 Gamer.nl
This is a terrible action game. The fighting system isn't working properly, the missions aren't offering any variety and the visuals are dated. The game hasn't recieved the care the series obviously deserves.
30 Ferrago
In the face of the political mess in Zimbabwe, the economic mess and knife-happy teenagers here in the UK, and the ongoing disaster in Iraq, the Incredible Hulk: The Official Videogame eclipses them all in making me unhappy.
20 NTSC-uk
The Incredible Hulk is nothing more than a shoddy imitation.
