Players should be able to progress in the game well enough without needing extra items. I was very impressed with the game, and given that it's free and a universal app, I would definitely recommend it.

Once players are comfortable with the mechanics, Inertia: Escape Velocity becomes an absolute joy.

Pretty much the only issue with Sonic CD is the controls; the d-pad is kind of small, but that's about it. The game holds up really well, and its relative scarcity in terms of re-releases makes it only that much more special now.

Bejeweled is, as always, a very familiar but always exciting experience. The visuals are spot on, really taking advantage of the retina display, and the various modes give players some good choices so they don't get burned out.

The Adventures of Tintin – The Game is an extremely enjoyable game that manages to combine multiple genres, yet never feels messy. It's just a shame about the number of game crashes.

Even with this rather large laundry list (I don't have enough space to list them all) of bite-sized problems, I'd still recommend Terra Noctis wholeheartedly to anyone who loved to jump on things. It's beautiful to look at and listen to, but it's also just plain fun to play.

Something that will stand out above all else is the performance of Grand Theft Auto III, especially on the higher end iOS devices. What could once only be achieved on high end home consoles can now be played on a piece of hardware that can fit in your pocket. The experience is replicated perfectly, with special attention paid to animations that are smooth as silk and action that is as active as ever.

Kingdom Rush offers enough variety in towers and enemies to take up more than a few minutes of someone's time, especially those who enjoy a very well done tower defense game. And this is one of them making it an easy recommendation to buy.

As someone who grew up idolizing fictitious cartoon characters each weekend, such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I was instantly drawn to Seal Force. It plays to that particular audience incredibly well. However, it's more than just a nostalgia trip. It's also a clever mash-up of two popular iOS genres that, surprise surprise, work quite well together.

The original Lumi was a must-have game. This iOS port is even more so. It's actually less expensive and will be featuring even more content (game modes, levels, etc.) thanks to planned future updates. Fans of platformers or stylistic indie games in general shouldn't let this one slip by unnoticed.

Wind-Up Knight is a game I have no problem referring to as a "Must Play." It's perfect for short bursts or prolonged sessions. There's a surprising amount of customization. It can be accessible and brutally punishing, depending on what the player wants. This, my friends, is a perfect example of mobile gaming at its finest.

Don't miss this spiky gem. If putting that shiny new iPad or iPhone to great gaming use is the journey, Crazy Hedgy is the destination.

Vlambeer deserve credit for making a fantastic game, and along with Halfbot, they deserve a ton of credit for making this a shining example of how to bring this kind of game to mobile properly. Even after all the weapons were unlocked, I still found myself chasing after the unlockable characters and modes that require superhuman-level performances in order to succeed. This sets a high bar for other iOS releases to try and match this year.

Its not just a clever idea, it's a clever idea wrapped in an extremely alluring (and well put-together) package. One that's totally worth playing.

The strategic planning of moves requires more forethought than is initially apparent. I wouldn't be at all surprised for this to become the next big iOS hit (especially if they lower the price for unlimited turns into realistic territory); Spry Fox could well have a winner on their hands here.

Even with the somewhat questionably walled-off content, Star Warfare: Alien Invasion is still an excellent and rewarding game. Seriously, I'm kind of geeking out about it. It took me longer than intended to finish writing this because I got caught up in a "research" match. Yeah.

Hank Hazard is a fantastic physics puzzler. Amongst an App Store heaving with the genre, Hank Hazard stands tall, making it an unbeatable example.

Windosill is a game that I feel should be experienced by everyone. The puzzles are well thought out, it looks and sounds great and has such a unique feel. Really great stuff.

I have every faith in Chillingo making the multiplayer into something that doesn't induce rage, but right now I'd rather avoid it. Thankfully the singleplayer portion of Spice Invaders is more than enough to satisfy. Barring the occasional ad there's hardly any way of knowing that this is a free-to-play game. I think that alone speaks volumes.

Blot is a must play for those who like high score chasing. It takes a simple, proven idea, adds a couple of twists and wraps it all up in charming, hand-drawn artwork.

One Epic Game may be a tongue-in-cheek name, but as it turns out it's descriptive. Grip Games have been working hard on their PSN Minis, but it's this iOS release that puts them on the map for me – a job very well done.

Since I'm not a tower defense connoisseur I can't say for certain whether or not this will excite people who are. But as someone who tends to skirt the genre I can admit that I'm absolutely obsessed with Elf Defense.

My super-annoying technical issues aside, DARIUSBURST SP is still a very good-looking and well-made shmup. Whether or not it's worth the $10.99 will depend on the individual and their love of shooting space crustaceans, but it's certainly a solid effort.

The controls could use some fine-tuning and I found being unable to 180 without hitting a barrier frustrating, even while understanding that is essential to the puzzle component. Nonetheless, Beat Sneak Bandit has style, well-blended elements from many popular gaming genres, and a unique musical aspect that make for a innovative and pulsating good time.

While it is very familiar, League of Evil 2 is still a ton of fun. Plus, it's pretty much worth buying just because it's a universal app with remote control support and cloud saving. Multiple device owners like myself will absolutely love this game.

MotoHeroz is another fantastic entry in a genre that RedLynx has taken command of. The physics-based gameplay, level design, and asynchronous multiplayer elements are all fantastic. Now, if only we can get RedLynx on the universal app train, we'd really have something. Other than that, the game is fantastic.

The original Azkend was a twist and eye candy, but it was pretty easy to beat. Azkend 2 goes deeper. It's still a casual game, but the difficultly level increases much more dramatically even if it's so incremental it's hard to notice.

Really, the only thing about Battleloot Adventure that might deter the loot-hungry iOS gamer is the 600+ megabytes it occupies. Aside from that it's cheap, addictive, nice to look at, and quite a bit of fun.

It's a must-have for strategy fans, no question.

While it's not really a racer in the technical sense, that doesn't keep Ion Racer from being entertaining. Fans of pretty much any kind of "runner" should certainly consider it. Everyone else should, too, because it's fun. It's also hard to put down and perfect for that pick-up and play gaming iOS users are accustomed to.

Even though Bug Princess 2 is essentially "more of the same," I'm okay with that. Seeing as "the same" equates to an extremely responsive, intense, and downright fun iOS SHMUP I have a hard time viewing that as a bad thing. It might look a tad dated and lack some of the expanded modes of a few of Cave's other titles, but it's still awesome. So. Very. Awesome.

The game was a flawless execution of a simple concept that is hard to put down. I played the game long after I felt comfortable writing this review. It has the same addiciting quality as Temple Run, but with gameplay that feels a bit more skillful.

Slingshot Racing is a ton of fun. The quick sessions make it perfect for pick-up-and-play gameplay, the grappling hook mechanic is very easy to learn, yet difficult to truly master. Snowbolt and Crescent Moon have absolutely nailed this game.

For a universal puzzle game with 100 levels at $0.99, there's no reason for any puzzle fan to pass this one over. Add Webbies to your "Puzzles" folder and call it a day.

Air Mail definitely lives up to the promise that the game had when I first got to play it. This is a fun flying game that has the feel of a Nintendo 64 or Dreamcast classic with its colorful graphics and feel, and it's well worth the premium app price to check it out.

Duckers is unique fun, even in the crowded endless genre on iOS. It's cute fun for all ages, and despite the clever naming and presence of Mother Duckers, it's worth playing beyond that novelty.

Forget saying it's "good for a Freemium game," Heroes Call is just plain good. Better than good in some ways.

Squids Wild West may not be a game for those who are hardcore turn-based strategy fans, as the amount of entropy involved in the game does derail some of the careful planning. But for the Angry Birds set looking to get in to a new type of game, Squids Wild West is a fun introduction.

Big Cave Games have managed to deliver the caliber experience in ORC: Vengeance that Gameloft's Dungeon Hunter series has been unsuccessfully attempting to attain for the last three years. Recommending this title doesn't do enough justice. You should steal every iOS device you can find and install it immediately. The owner will have no choice but to thank you for it later.

The gameplay is not only intuitive and challenging but it's also engaging. The graphics are crisp, the animations are beautifully done and I can't stop humming that catchy tune in the game. Go grab a copy of Bucketz to test your reflexes and see if you can become a master of balance. I can't think of a better way to spend two dollars.

Horn is a well-crafted game that has been well thought out. The story is creative and lovingly presented, and works with the thematic concepts perfectly. Aside from very few control issues, this is definitely a great game that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Jack Lumber is completely ridiculous and I love it. It's easy to pick up and play, has plenty of laughs, and actually has a great number of levels to go along with it. Put on some flannel, grow out that beard, and chop some wood.

One Tap Hero is an intelligent game that does what it claims, blending the genre of platform and puzzler well. Once the player gets past slight control issues there is definitely a great game to be had.

The iOS conversion is pretty good, even despite the screen restrictions, and it's all forgiven when you're wrapped up in the storyline so much. It's an expensive purchase but one that will offer you dozens of hours of memorable gameplay.

Granny Smith is a winner. From the characters to the zany gameplay, there's a whole lot to love in this $0.99, universal app and I can't wait for additional levels to be added on.

Rayman Jungle Run is a breath of a fresh air.

For fans of the side-scrolling shoot-em-up, Apocalypse Max delivers quite a lot in a fairly compact package. Requiring a fair amount of concentration, but never overly harsh, it wants you to be a survivor and will equip you with the appropriate weapon to do so.

A lot of thought has gone into the whole game, from the retina display graphics, to the layout of the title screen; which allows you to scroll around to enjoy the hi-res graphics even more. Everything works, and works well.

For fans of fighting games that want some new portable pugilism with projectiles, Street Fighter X Tekken is a great choice, if only because it's the best looking entry yet, and it supports the iPad! Hallelujah!

At the risk of sounding cliché, it's not hard to argue that FIFA 13 is a pitch perfect adaption of the world's sport. While that might be a bit extreme, the brand's dedication to tweaking game mechanics until they are perfect, seems to be shining through loud and clear.

If you love a good mystery and games that make you feel clever, I highly recommend buying The Room today.

It's an exceptional value and a fascinating story.

God of Blades is a great take on the auto-runner genre, and the fact that it absolutely commits to its theme is part of what makes it so much fun. There's nothing quite like it on the App Store, and it's fun to boot.

The game is still frantically chaotic unlike few other match–3 titles out there, and it still looks colorfully amazing.

For a simple puzzler that will get players thinking, Oh! Sheep is a nice addition to the genre. The first 15 levels are a generous amount of free levels to get a feel for the game and the $0.99 price tag is worth the total 90 levels. Anyone who enjoyed Spy Mouse and other path-drawing puzzlers should definitely pick this one up.

I'm absolutely in love with Crazy Taxi on iOS: it's a fantastic port of a bona fide classic.

With Polara, players are also arguably getting two games in one. After completing each stage, a separate goal emerges: the collection of the titular letters and a special medallion. The position of each letter cleverly rewires the way players are required to jump, switch colors, and evaluate timing. Meanwhile, perfectionists will be enticed by the pursuit of "flawless," no-death runs. All told, Hope This Works shows that ingenuity in design trumps superfluous achievements every time.

A fairly cute and amusing package, though. The slight addition of RPG elements to help buffer spells and amulets between battles, along with the fairly difficult achievements for each individual level give plenty of incentive to go back and try again, as returning will not result in just rehashing with the exact same power level. And again, if humor and writing are something to be appreciated, this game has quite a bit on offer.

Girls Like Robots is a fantastic puzzle game: there's a lot of creativity that came from such a simple starting point, and the way that everything expands out from its simple beginnings is the kind of trait that great games have.

While it seems this might get old after a while, played in short bursts, it actually has a lot of legs, with each play earning coins to unlock different music and themes.

The artwork is very polished and the storyline is original and witty. There is a lot of funny banter between the attorneys at the beginning of each round and it's almost as if the developers hired a screenplay writer to write all the content.

Addictive puzzle mechanics and infectiously fun challenges make Take It Easy an unexpected runaway success.

Blood of the Zombies won't entrance twitch gamers but for those looking for an interesting storyline and a delightful walk down memory lane, it's a sterling effort and one that very much deserves its asking price.

I'd recommend it purely to support such a great game, if nothing else, but such features are quite handy.

Even with the most critical of eyes, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is still easily one of the best racers on the platform to date. You would have to be crazy not to take this hot rod out for a nice long joy ride. EA and Firemonkey have once again re-defined what it means to play racing games on iOS.

About the only thing that bothers me about Zombiewood is the virtual sticks. Their hit boxes just feel too small. I suppose it also takes a bit to earn Special Money to use on fancier stuff, but the daily slot machine and multiplayer challenge mode (a.k.a. The Arena) are both viable ways to earn it faster. I have to admit I had my doubts, but Gameloft has really come through here and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Not very often does a newcomer impress, quite to the level that ARC Squadron has. The visual polish, overabundance of content, and addictive gameplay all meld together into a product that even Fox McCloud would be happy to have bear his name. Don't hesitate to jump into the cockpit. This is going to be one hell of a ride, that shouldn't be missed.

Even without the homage to pen and paper nerdery Knights of Pen and Paper is a fantastic semi-self driven RPG adventure. It's clever, charming, customizable, and virtually infinitely replayable.

Admittedly there aren't many endless falling titles on the App Store at the moment, but this game sets the bar for any others that might follow.

Throughout, Sleepwalker's Journey's charm shines through, ever brightly.

A great quality boxing title. It demonstrates the potential of iOS devices well, although it does hammer the iPhone's battery quite significantly after extended sessions.

As long as players are willing to be patient or pony up a little coin, Coaster Crazy is an exceptionally fun trip into the deepest recesses of a creative mind. The open-ended gameplay and interesting challenges will keep players guessing, long after queue lines have been opened for business. Forget free-to-play, this is a definitely-should-play.

Those willing to dive in to a tower defense game that's ready and willing to be deep should check it out as well. This is one of the best $2.99 (plus in-app purchases for currency) values on the App Store.

Those turned off by Dark Legends will find a brighter, happier, and better experience with Arcane Legends.

Writer Rumble does something really unique with word games, and it does live online multiplayer right, by making it an integral part of the game and making it easy to find matches.

The crazy thing is that this game is really an absurd value.

Don't think twice about the rather hefty $4.99 price tag, because frankly, it is more than justified for any enthusiast. Think of all the quarters it will be saving!

I wasn't expecting Into the Dead to be an endless runner, and I certainly wasn't expecting to have as much fun with it as I have, but it is and I did. I'd recommend it as an automatic buy regardless, but the fact that it's free makes it a (I'm sorry but I have to) no-brainer.

The graphics really pop, and the gameplay is quite addicting. Players will definitely get plenty of bang for their buck in this highly recommendable title.

At its core, Man in a Maze is a family friendly puzzler that's well designed with smooth controls, humorous graphics and varied gameplay. Aside from adding iCade support, there wasn't anything that I didn't like about it. Whether players have a twisted sense of humor, love mazes or can't get enough game shows packed into their day, it's definitely a keeper and highly recommendable.

Monsters, Inc. Run is a fun ride at an inexpensive price. Offering more structure and purpose than many other Endless or Auto Runners, there's plenty of reason to keep coming back for more. I had a blast with it.

While the new boss is the same as the old boss with Anomaly Korea, that's not a bad thing, because this game still is boss.

Even with the difficulty Rise of the Blobs is still plenty of fun. So much so that losing typically ends up being just another excuse to play again. Or maybe get Mal a new hat.

Heroes and Castles is quite possibly Foursaken Media's most refined strategy title yet, and I personally find it to be their most entertaining. It's still a little rough around the edges in a few places but it's full of enough upgrades and unlocks (not to mention fun) to keep fans of the genre, or the developer, busy for quite a while.

Momonga Pinball Adventures is a sugary sweet pinball title that has plenty to offer for every audience. What it lacks in photo-realistic physics and ridiculous bonus multipliers, it more than makes up for in charm and replayability.

Stratego can be great fun when playing against another person, even with numerous losses due to playing against people who actually know what they're doing, but the single player should be avoided at all costs.

Little Inferno won't take long to reach its inevitable conclusion provided players burn all the things at a steady pace. However it's the puzzle-like combos and the funny, sometimes freaky, reactions objects have to fire that should keep them coming back even after unlocking the final catalog.

Roar Rampage is loud, full of things to smash, and a giant dinosaur wearing boxing gloves. With controls that improve on the Flash original and the ability to smash the Eiffel Tower, what’s not to love about Roar Rampage?

Cordy 2 offers plenty of in-app purchases but none other than the initial $4.99 outlay for the full game, are actually needed. Instead, they offer customization options that I found unnecessary to my enjoyment of the game. Offering plenty of charm and little reason to criticize, Cordy 2 is an utterly delightful platformer.

The boost mechanic is what makes Rock Runners feel truly special. Performing a perfect run on a level, all while boosting, feels so smooth and rewarding that you just want to do it again on the next stage. Although there are some issues with in-game hitching (that, and the pause menu could use a count-down timer on resume), there is very little negative to say about Rock Runners.

Spunk and Moxie might sound brief, offering 30 levels, but it’s so much more than that. I’m hopeful for extra level packs in the future but that’s more than enough for all but the hardiest of twitch gamers. Patience is vital but there’s a heck of a lot to enjoy here.

Major Magnet is a passionate project, one that tries to honor its forefathers while existing as its own original work. And it succeeds tremendously.
