There is no alternative that comes anywhere close to capturing the joy of virtual existence in Liberty City - and that's exactly why it deserves full marks, because it pushes the envelope for immersive, modern, virtual worlds further than any other game - that and the fact that it simply has to be played by anyone with an interest in videogames.

Visually, this game is stunning. It is one of the most atmospheric and engaging games I have ever played and the sounds fit the action perfectly with no annoying music to upset.

I daresay that many of the Brits reading this will be as baffled as I was with ESPN NFL 2K5, but there's a whole shed-load of quality present in both the gameplay and presentation.

By anyone's reckoning Portal isn't a long game, weighing in at around the three to four hour mark. Those of you who do see this game from start to end though are in for a very special experience.

I knew to expect greatness when coming into playing the game for the first time, but words simply cannot describe how blown away I am at how remarkable (and insanely addictive) this truly is.
