  1. The movie adds up to a few good ideas and a lot of bad ones, wandering around in search of an organizing principle.
  2. Feels uncomfortably stage-managed, and raises fundamental questions that it simply ignores.
  3. Maleficent is an admittedly great-looking, sometimes creepy, often plodding and utterly unconvincing re-imagining of a famous romantic fairy tale as a female empowerment metaphor.
