It's obscure, it's "arty" and it surely is old fashioned. And at the end of the day, Sword and Sorcery is surely a unique experience.

It could be argued that Portal didn't need a sequel, such a unique and complete experience as it was, but since it got one, it might as well be this; a game that stays true to the spirit of the original, while at the same time expanding and adding onto it, without over-complicating the experience. If this is how Valve chose to spend their time instead of developing Episode 3, we're not going to be the ones to complain!

Is this truly Hideo Kojima's last game in the legendary MGS franchise? If so he will be sorely missed because this epic conclusion to the Metal Gear saga is a true video gaming masterpiece.

Stories Untold is a great example of the endless capabilities of video games. No Code created a horror sci-fi experience that pushes the boundaries of story telling and on their way there they do not forget to enrich it with high aesthetic and an eerie atmosphere.

One of the best games of the year and one of the most punishing ones. Dark Souls is superb, but it's not a game for everyone. You have been warned.

Codemasters returns to glory with the rally game we all have been waiting for. This is probably the best game in its genre since the days of the original Colin McRae Rally franchise.

By taking the well known tried and reliable recipe of the old games, tweaking some of the original ideas and adding a few new ones, Game Freak delivered the best Pokemon game we've seen in years.

Hyper Light Drifter is a highly personal tale from Alex Preston, and it’s in his honor that he managed to pass it through this medium in such a discreet and moving way. Its gameplay, storytelling, amazingly beautiful pixel art, and compelling soundtrack work in total harmony to present an utterly satisfying and unique indie game.

Revelations is another great addition of 3DS, offering engaging gameplay and beautiful visuals, while its biggest asset is its captivating story. As such, it is highly recommended to approach it after you complete Birthright and Conquest, the previous two chapters of this saga.

Another high quality and especially polished game from Blizzard, Overwatch will keep you in its online arenas for many hours to come thanks to its extremely fun gameplay and the vast and entirely diverse cast of characters. As many (almost) only online titles it has its own share of balancing issues but not significant enough to distract from the fun.

Even though some of its mechanics are indeed stuck in an older era of gaming and the camera can sometimes be painful, The Last Guardian is a unique and almost monumental game in its narration and in the way it bonds the gamer with the two protagonists. Just like it happened a long time ago with Ico and Yorda.

If the name "Commandos" sparks a welcoming nostalgia feeling then Shadow Tactics should be a game you should not miss. Mimimi Productions manages to convince us beyond doubt that this niche and long forgotten genre is not only far from obsolete, but rather feels as fresh as the first time we put our hands in Pyro’s first endeavour.
