The final nail in the proverbial Mana Tree wood coffin is the Gem Frame. Meant to provide a higher level of customisation to your character beyond rudimentary equipment, this little fit-stones-into-shape puzzle only manages to overpower you - Making every enemy, including the bosses, easy to beat and the entire ordeal rather similar and ultimately boring in the process. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Ultimately very few players will wish to repeat the experience and for such a high profile release questions have to be asked just what went wrong. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
The concept had a lot of potential, but we feel that far too much of this potential has gone unexplored. -

Critic Score 50
While a decent dungeon crawler in its own right, it just feels unimpressive in comparison to its rival. -

Critic Score 50
There’s something lacking at the heart of Point Blank DS, and at no point does it fell like a cohesive collection. -

It's impossible to understand how the developers came so close to making a good game and then failed so thoroughly. -

From the dire music to the drab gameplay - NFL Street 3 can be described as nothing more than average. -

Critic Score 50
It's sad to say that, while King of Fighters: Neowave has plenty of good ideas, it can't stop the game from feeling extremely dated. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
The definitive average experience. You can play through this title with little effort and come out at the end with next to no lasting impression of any kind. It merely exists to pass away a few hours and should be consigned to the history books. -

Critic Score 50
Samurai Warriors 2 lacks the cutting edge Gamestyle was expecting and, for many out there, is an easy target to criticise. Improvements and new additions are recognised, but more work is necessary to revitalise the genre for a new generation. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
The humour does little more than raise the game's entertainment value from below average to average. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Given the quality of recognised classics of the genre such as Capcom v SNK 2 and Capcom's formidable Street Fighter Alpha Anthology disc (both of which retail for the same price) and Battle Coliseum’s bargain basement finish, there is no way this game can be considered anything other than average. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
M.A.C.H is technically a near-perfect game; smooth, easy to play, good looking, well implemented multiplayer modes and so on. What it doesn't have is a single spark of originality or even the smallest bit of personality. Is polish more important than originality? GameStyle thinks not. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Alien Hominid HD almost makes us want to cry. Maybe it's because a game we've been looking forward too has turned out to be incredibly average or perhaps it's because we've very rarely been this overcome by a games unfair difficulty. -

-
Critic Score 50
Just as you are beginning to be entertained by Kororinpa, its all over. Frankly this would have been better placed as a budget release as outside of the main mode you only have a standard two player offering or the option to beat your previous best time. -

Critic Score 50
However, it’s impossible to recommend to those who don’t have one of the DS games, and while die-hard Pokémaniacs will doubtless get some joy out of it, even they should avoid paying full-price for what is a somewhat limited expansion. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Distinctly average. The concept and structure have potential, but it was largely unrealised in this game. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
The odd moments of joy don’t warrant sitting through the rest of the tedium and broken mechanics for. This cash cow has been well and truly milked. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Somehow, against all the odds, the game still manages to be fun. Perhaps it’s the sheer over-the-topness of everything, Mercenaries 2 displays an exuberance missing from so many “realistic” games these days and it is this that will hold interest long after it should have waned. -

Critic Score 50
Juiced 2 is hampered by the lack of tracks, unrealistic tuning and some bizarre design choices. -

Call of Juarez is an odd game that manages to mix two distinct gameplay styles, failing miserably in the process. -

When it works, Spider-Man 3 is an enjoyable return to New York, and it quite often does work. However the myriad problems soon build up and cause frustration, leaving a distinctly average taste in our mouths. -

The Saboteur held much promise, which unfortunately never materialises whilst playing. -

Critic Score 50
While it does take advantage of the Wii remote to good effect, there is not enough variety in the game play to make for a swashbuckling experience. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
This game is certainly entertaining, but only for a few days, and several of the events just prove too aggravating to replay again once you’ve done them as often as you need to. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Really, the best we can say is that it's better than we expected, which isn't exactly a glowing statement, but it's proven that not all of Koei's hack-and-slash games are mind numbingly awful. -

Critic Score 50
It is nice to see some of the forgotten games from SNK's past making their way onto systems where everyone can enjoy them, but there are so many better titles that we wish they would dig out. -

Critic Score 50
Overall Crash of the Titans is an average title that will provide some enjoyment to younger gamers just long enough until something better comes out. And let’s be honest here, it’s not like the 360 is brimming with decent platformer titles. -

-
Critic Score 50
It tries to cover all the bases and provide street, simulation and racing experiences and consequently does not master any of these disciplines. -

Critic Score 50
Quite frankly, even long time Dragon Ball Z fans will get limited fun out of this. Burst Limit isn't necessarily bad and can be quite fun at first, but you'll get bored of it after a few days because of the above mentioned issues and go back to playing something else. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
There is nothing in the game to be particularly dismayed by, nor anything that gives the sense that this could be the definitive spin-off fans and non-fans alike could get behind. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Despite a decent opening it soon descends into mediocrity that so many licensed games fall into. -

Critic Score 50
Ultimately you cannot blame Traveller’s Tales too much for playing it safe with LEGO Batman and following their successful blueprint for retail success once again. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
Even at the budget price label there’s not really that much to get excited about here unless you are a massive fan of SNK’s line up and haven’t played any of these titles in years. -

Critic Score 50
Godfather II stands out in the sandbox genre because of the Don’s View but it’s the only thing that really does. Everything else can be discarded, but if EA can take the Don’s View and put that in a game with more technical proficiency, we’ll be buying. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
It really is a shame, because the time spent inbetween battles completely ruins the fun and entertainment that the battles themselves produced. It leaves you with no interest in the story, characters, or perfecting your squad. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
As it stands, like its predecessor this game is by no means horrible, and definite attempts to improve the formula have been made, but the control issues and various other bugbears mean that this is still only worth a rental at best. -

If PopCap had of combined the first and second with the best games from both and made a compilation of Plants vs. Zombies, Bejewelled, Feeding Frenzy 1/2 and Zuma then they would definitely of had a winner on their hands, but due to the fact that both volumes have been weakened by other games it is hard to rate higher than we have, even though 1 or 2 of the games are true gems.- Posted Mar 8, 2011

We're not concerned that the system isn't at the forefront of technology, so what is here isn't bad; it just hasn't got the charm of the books or the magic of the movie. And Harry Potter without magic doesn't make sense. -

The camera system is utterly dreadful. If you can handle the camera and enjoyed the Terminator movies then Dawn of Fate will entertain you. -

-
Critic Score 50
Sure, the graphics are splendid (and the in-car cockpit view is tremendous) but with such a limited array of cars prescribed by the license and the sad truth that the game doesn't really offer anything new, Gamestyle is hard pushed to really recommend it. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
A strange beast. Initially captivating for its haunting atmosphere and impressive plotline, Gamestyle soon uncovered sanity effects that pushed us over the edge - of despair. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
There are also issues with the questionable collision detection, which often results in your character slamming into a nearby pole that you had apparently avoided. -

Be it a comatose dinosaur that needs reviving, a fossil find that needs extraction, or research team that needs a project, everybody unfailingly 'needs' a little of your time. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
An oddity, and one cannot entirely dismiss murmurings of a rush job from its topsy-turvy execution - perhaps acknowledged through the slightly reduced retail price. This is not the definitive pirate RPG that many had hoped for, but beneath the problems a game exists with an enjoyable undercurrent; just reaching it is the challenge. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
There are plenty of secret items, including an overly long and rather tedious "Making Of" feature, not to mention a co-op mode for you and a friend. But all of this is insignificant when the gameplay itself is rather shallow and repetitive, meaning pretty much everyone will give up before everything is unlocked. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
The move to third-person is bold and different, but in order for it to succeed an effective auto-targeting system is essential; unfortunately, the lock-on provided is patchy at best - and just as likely to target the guy at the back over the guy who is inches away from ramming an Uzi up your rectum. Compounding the problem is the relative uselessness of shooting when not using the lock-on. -

Critic Score 50
Along with "Army Men Tactics" its certainly one of the better releases in the series. Admittedly, this for some (including Gamestyle) is not saying much at all, but more than anything it shows that with a little more thought, development and invention these green men could be so much more. -
-
-
Critic Score 50
It is the very definition of average. There are some nice ideas lurking within and if they had been implemented better then the title could have been far more enjoyable. -

Critic Score 50
It's pretty much as we had expected: another generic film license that was probably built to a set timescale and with a limited scope. -

Critic Score 50
Another by-the-numbers film license cash-in which will entertain, but ultimately leave the player wishing they parted with their cash for something that has had more creative and industrious effort put into it. -

The Matrix: Path of Neo does have its moments - but these are limited by the restraints of the medium. In the trilogy, Neo could do almost anything, which included manipulation of time itself. chick chick BOOM does a lot of things right. It looks and sounds polished and attractive and the core mechanics have promise. It feels like it deserves better. But comparisons with luminary artillery games are foolish; there are too many imperfections to leave them unmentioned and any multiplayer game that leaves you celebrating the end for the end's sake is a failure. chick chick BOOM could have, should have been so much more: a tremendous shame that it is not.- Posted Mar 7, 2011

Shining Soul is too shallow to appeal to the turn-based RPG crowd and the combat is too tedious to appeal to action RPG fans, or indeed anyone not wanting to inflict a repetitive strain injury upon themselves. -

Critic Score 40
How such a raft of glitches and mistakes and bugs got through the test phase (perhaps the testing team was a group of trained gorillas?) defies reason. -

Critic Score 40
It isn't a terrible game, it's just repetitive, flat, murky and rushed out for Christmas. -
-
-
Critic Score 40
Repeated playthoughs are marginally less frustrating as you already know what's coming, but hardly counter for the sloppiness of level design. -

Fighting really isn't Sonic's strength - at least not with regard to good gameplay. He needs to be kept on his feet - a balled blur of blue - not flat on his face. -

Critic Score 40
Imaginative and meticulously-produced, but its flaws are too numerous to recommend over superior pinball titles. For a first-party Nintendo release, this is a poor showing indeed. -

-
Critic Score 40
It's a perfect example of a lazily-produced game because the makers thought that the target audience wouldn't notice. -

Critic Score 40
The large levels are deceptive, as these do not provide freedom to explore. Even the much-maligned "Wild Metal" managed to offer some degree of exploration, and atmosphere. -

Maybe like American Football and Baseball, Whacked is simply going to become another title that many English gamers will simply not get. I know this one didn’t. -

Critic Score 40
Unrewarding, derivative, insulting and just plain dull, and worse of all, shamefully ignorant of the huge leaps forward in level design, characterisation and game structure and in the last decade, and as such is best avoided. -

The worst issue, however, is the handling - akin to pushing a shopping trolley with one wheel locked, the cars in Group S are just about as twitchy as they can be. -

Where Ubisoft's teams have exponentially raised the bar for squad-based titles, the LucasArts kowtowers have inconsolably brought the entry level down. Troops: step forward and press 'A' at my command. [Sir, yes sir!] -

Two steps removed from the CCG it seeks to emulate, and is unlikely to appeal to anyone but Magic aficionados - and even then it has so cruelly crushed the freedom and essence of the licence that players of 'chess with cards' cannot help but shun it. -

With the movie being one of the biggest hits of the year ti date, it is a huge disappointment that the game was so far off the mark. We weren't expecting a God of War game but if done right it could of been pretty damn close. The lore was there, the combat, the possible beautiful worlds and yet somehow it was all overlooked and instead we get a decidely 'ok' game.- Posted May 4, 2011

Dead Island is described as a first person action-adventure game, whilst it is definitely first person, the latter two descriptions are misleading, it is action in as much as raising your arm is an action, it is adventure in as much finding toilet roll is an adventure. They should have called it a first person battle of tedium, because it would've been a lot more accurate.- Posted Sep 20, 2011

In conclusion, Defenders had the basis for a good game. The developers have tried something different, but it hasn't worked this time. The gameplay just comes across as uneven. Certain units should be strong against some towers and weak against others and vice versa, instead of every unit bar one being weak against everything. Unfortunately, this game simply comes across as a chore to play, rather than a joy.- Posted Mar 20, 2012

Overall Bellator MMA Onslaught has the base to be a good game, however there are just far too many niggles at the moment. It is a game that feels like another year of development would have worked wonders. Working on the animations so that everything linked together in a more natural way and fleshing out the modes on offer would have made this a worthy purchase. As it is though, it is one to pick up only if you are desperately after a fighting game.- Posted Jul 11, 2012

The Godfather is not a total failure, but when the main impetus to play through its missions is to watch the bonus film material, you have to ask what the point is. -

Critic Score 30
The game play is too repetitive and a combination of poor controls and poor visuals make it frustrating to complete the levels. It's hard to imagine many people, whatever their ages, having the supreme patience to actually sit through more than a few hours of this game. -

If you need a Golden Axe fix you can get the original game with co-op on XBLA for 400 points, and we guarantee it’ll be a more enjoyable experience than Beast Rider, which has only served to put another nail in the coffin of one of Sega’s biggest hits. -

Alien Syndrome is another entry in the catalogue of Wii games that fail to grasp the potential of the system. Simply tacking on a few new controls in a title that could easily have been created twenty years ago is not a winning formula. -

However even the appeal of Cosmic Family will be short-lived to any demographic as it is very much on the short side. Rather than being a complete box set of a whole television series (or even a few shows) it is probably best summed up as an interactive episode. -

Overall, this is a hugely disappointing release from Midway who had seemed to be on an upward trend over the past few years. Hopefully Hour of Victory is the exception, as this should have been binned long before arriving exclusively on the Xbox 360. -

Critic Score 30
With the Xbox 360 laying host to several epic Japanese RPG’s of late and the soon to be released Mass Effect. Two Worlds warrants little attention and deservedly so. Amidst the range of options, classes and menus, lurks a promising storyline but while the PC market would have lapped up this five years ago, it deserves to be cast into another dimension. -

Gamestyle is sure that die-hard, DS owning Potter fans will buy this game, and maybe even enjoy it a tiny bit, regardless of what we say here. With a tight release schedule, developing a game based on a movie will inevitably involve a degree of compromise, but creating a game that feels unfinished and distinctly rushed isn't acceptable. -
