Grand Theft Auto V is not just the best sandbox game there is. It's not just one of the best 3rd-person shooters ever. It's not just a great action game, a great driving game, and a great piloting or sports game. It's not just the biggest audiovisual spectacle in the last few years. Grand Theft Auto V is the best game in the current console generation, period.

Grand Theft Auto V jumps into the next gen to also become the best current game. It is inevitable to see technical aspects belonging to the old gen, but it doesn't burden the work Rockstar made in this remaster, which is outstanding. There are reasons to go back to Los Santos, this time with PS4.

Naughty Dog puts an end to the current generation with a game that explores the human interaction of two characters, Joel and Ellie, that are destined to get along in a shattered world that has been wonderfully represented thanks to its impressive technical aspects. The Last of Us, in spite of its small imperfections, is an adult title that no PS3 player should let go unplayed.

A must have for those who couldn't play it on PS3. Intense, violent and emotional, Joel and Ellie's tale is as stunning as a year ago. Visual improvements and extra content are the only incentives those who played the original will find, and the reason they will have to think it's worth buying PS4's version.

BioShock Infinite is state of the of art. Irrational Games exceeds expectations and revolutionizes the FPS genre with an exceptionally outstanding story and gameplay. Definitely one of the best games of the generation.

For many people, Persona 5 is the best JRPG in years. It is a wonderful and psychological journey to the dark side of humans, with dynamic combat by turns and aesthetics that are very colorful and alive. Here you have many hours of play, activities, social links and elegance. Atlus must continue this series: it can go very far.

Atlus goes the extra mile with an exceptional remake that is full of new features. Persona 4 Golden will captivate you from the very beginning, offering not only a very addictive experience, but also a very entertaining one, with the perfect combination of role-playing and social simulation. Both aspects coexist in perfect harmony, making this game one of Vita's must have titles.

Dear Kojima, thanks for giving us this sophisticated engineering machinery. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is simply a revolutionary product and probably the best stealth game in recent years. It's not afraid of the sandbox genre, it draws a vast and open field full of hours of gameplay, freedom, unlimited fun and a constant desire to know what will happen next. Kojima, you are the real Big Boss.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is the first great gift by Naughty Dog to the PS4 users. But it's also for you, Uncharted fan, who now reads these lines after years following the exciting adventures of the "descendant" of Sir Francis Drake. This generation really begins with Uncharted 4, because this game is what everyone was expecting. It's technically excellent, it's what's really required for this console. The grand finale for one of the best PlayStation franchises.

Journey keeps all of its audiovisual and emotional charm in PS4, with slight visual arrangements, and the feeling that you are playing a unique experience. A true gem that doesn't age.

PS4 gets a must-have with Bloodbore. Not technically brilliant, nor seamless when it comes to frame rate. However, there isn't another game as astonishing in its artistic work, as well as making us feel things like fear, being powerful, getting frustrated, aware of dangers and, finally, achieving the ultimate satisfaction. Bloodborne means all that... and much more.

Undertale's reputation is a heavy burden when you launch it two years later in a new platform. It isn't flawless at all. The price, taking into consideration it's an English only game, may turn off may people. However, trying to enjoy all of its routes and extremely polished plot and situations is something that is worth while in the long term. Not a game for everyone, that's for sure, but if you see it on sale, is a cultural phenomenon you should try for yourself.

RPGs have a new king with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. CD Projekt RED has turned Adrzej Sapkowski's work into an amazing interactive spectacle in terms of visuals, plot and gameplay mechanics. Every hour invested in this game will be an hour of fun. The only disappointment is the optimization of the game on PS4. Frequent frame rate drops blur the experience. An issue we expect to be solved with updates but, for now, are quite a burden while playing.

Being straightforward, it is a must have. A game that brings back that excitement that surfaces when you explore every corner of its world and, most importantly, is worth giving a try to allow it to astonish the gamer.

Blood & Wine is the perfect closure to a perfect game. A humongous DLC, with an absorbent plot and many, many things that you will want to do. Get involved with the Wolf's last adventure, but do it with enough spare time, since you will be playing non stop for many hours. I swear upon the heron.

Playdead has made a game equally interesting both in its gameplay as in its plot. Everything feels so natural and the combination of puzzles, platforms and sidescrolling enhances the formula already used in Limbo. Inside will be in your mind well after you've finished it, and its ending's many interpretations make an overall superb experience and a remarkable game.

Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition is the best version of the famous game you can find in consoles. Many new mechanics added to the PS4 version, stacking with the already deep game mechanics, altogether with the chance to get the same improvements as the PC version in the future, makes it the best next-gen hack'n slash RPG.

Overwatch needs more content. Right now the game does not justify its price although we know Blizzard will expand it. This hero shooter maintains a perfect balance of gameplay and it has charismatic characters, but perhaps its sales model has not been adequate.

Expensive, as almost every other PlayStation VR game is, and it is already a well-known one for those who already played it on any other platform. Rez Infinite is, as for now, the best game among all others launch titles for PS VR. The audiovisual experience is unique in a game that looks as if it was already thought to be a VR game back then, taking advantage of every aspect from stereoscopic and 360ยบ vision.

Titanfall 2 takes the first spot in the frantic, close-quarter scenario shooters. Respawn Entertainment has put a lot of effort in this game, clearly aiming to take the spot of the Call of Duty franchise, whose last entry will be on stores in a few days. DICE takes aim with Battlefield 1 and it ends up being a jackpot. It couldn't be a better game taking into consideration the limitations imposed due to the game taking place during WWI. It offers some of the best maps ever seen in the franchise. Tons of charisma for a franchise that stands tall against the dictatorship of sci-fi and double jump.

Horizon Zero Dawn is a nice surprise because rarely is a game such as this is able to surpass expectations. It isn't just a game with a great plot; it isn't just a technical marvel; it isn't just a game with great, addictive gameplay mechanics. It is all of these things and much more. It is, above all, an Aloy that shines on its own, able to rise as the new PlayStation female hero.

What Remains of Edith Finch could have had a cheaper price tag and that would have reduced the negativity from critics due to its 2 hours length. But, if you agree to that $20, Giant Sparrow brings you a new way to experience walking simulators, with a straightforward, great plot that entangles you and is true poetry, taking advantage of that unique level of interaction that only videogames offer. It has a magic halo above it, and that makes it the best indie this year so far.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will go down in history for being a Triple A game with production values worth of a TV series. Every good aspect of the game are the same ones that made Tomb Raider (2013) a superb game, and it is still as enjoyable as it was back then. It is a must if you like action and adventure games and you will like it even with the lack of new mechanics.

NieR: Automata is another serious contender for the GOTY in a year that has just begun. Platinum Games' special touch is there, but they have kept the respect needed for Yoko Taro's unique way of storytelling. An adult plot, with complex themes and a superb soundtrack, way above the average, mark the birth of an instant classic. We just hope that the franchise, somehow, keeps on going.
