If your mobile device does more than just entertain you on the way to work, but also provides your kids with some sanity-saving distraction, then they'll love the world, music and characters, but become quickly frustrated with the game.

Learning curve aside, it's one of the most competent competitive racers available on the App Store, and the multiplayer and ghost-racing components will give you considerably more value for money than the majority of the competition will.

Overall, Space Age is a beautiful and intelligent adventure with a few flaws that's still very much worth checking out, especially if you're hankering for some old-school pixel action or something decidedly familiar.

Little Labyrinths has no right to be as much fun as it is, relying as it does on the surface simplicity of a basic maze-solving game. Then again, taking classic ideas and breathing new life into them is what the mobile platforms do best, and so with its variety of modes and procedurally-generated mazes, this is one simple game that's easy to recommend.

We had a lot of fun with Catapult King: the graphics are gorgeous, it's an interesting take on the typical physics puzzlers on the App Store, and it has a very responsive control system that befits a precision puzzler such as this.

Aside from that, 6th Planet is a great example of what creative folks can do with iOS. We look forward to Monkube's next project.

Gurumin serves up a bevy of mostly entertaining fare via its lighthearted romp through a whimsical land of monsters and phantoms. Just don't expect a grandiose story or sweeping genre innovation, and despite its kiddie trappings and minor flaws you may be amazed at how fun this game can be.

Even with its short length, Can You Escape 2 has plenty of smarts going for it. The puzzle design is ingenious, the interface is easy to use, and the solutions will put a smile on your face. Not bad for a game that can be played without spending a cent.

both challenging and casual friendly. Hardcore gamers will obsess over high scores, while the average Joe can play at his or her own pace, effortlessly merging droplets by sliding a thumb around the screen. Fun stuff.

An addictive, entertaining affair that takes a little bit of patience and learning to get down the basics. Once learned, however, you'll be hooked in no time flat and unwilling to turn a cold shoulder to it.

Overall, though, Mario and Sonic At the Olympic Games has its weight in gold medal, moreso than the other, flawed console version. Its gameplay, multiplayer options and presentation will hit the spot with Olympians and fans of their games everywhere.

This is the same Shantae: Risky's Revenge we know and love, but on much better screens. If you beat this game months ago, there's little reason to download it again. If, on the other hand, this is your first time playing, then by all means. It's $2.99 well spent.

Turnacle won't be for everyone, and even hardened puzzle gamers may find the game a question of taste. Once you've mastered the underlying strategy, it might also be a rather short-lived experience given the limited number of game modes in this - currently - free title.

The Ensign is a fantastically weird and wonderful RPG that has plenty going for it, but only if you have the time and patience to peel away the several layers. You'll find that it's delightfully bizarre in many ways, especially if you were a previous fan of A Dark Room.

Bike Baron may not be the most original of games, but who cares? This super tough app packs just the right amount of value into a small 37.4 MB package, and with possible updates on the way, you should definitely hop on this ride.

The new additions aren't anything mind-boggling, but the new jobs and the bonus dungeon certainly add some extra playtime, and the result is a lovingly ported game that can really pass the time.

What appeared to be a gimmick, a game that works in tandem with a series of plastic action figures, is one of the system's finest titles, a colorful, addictive and well designed platform adventure featuring lots of enemies to pummel, items to collect and characters to play as.

We're stilling waiting for someone to deliver the next true Battleheart, and do so without a freemium structure underpinning everything, but until that time comes Heroes of Destiny makes for a great stop-gap.

It's certainly true that there are a huge number of endless-runners vying for everyone's attention at the moment, but Hiptic's GoNinja offers up enough variety (just) to make it worthy of checking out. If you've become utterly exhausted by the genre though, it's unlikely that the game will give you a second wind.

There's no denying that Glu Mobile did a great job adapting Transformers into a turn-based strategy game. G1 Awakening lacks the pomp and circumstance in Activision's games, but it's both fun as well as a cool trip back to a time when Saturday morning cartoons and toys were actually good.

Namco seems to have a screwed-up distribution cycle with this game, so it might be a bit hard to find. And that's too bad, because Point Blank DS is one of the better third-party offerings out there, loaded with variety and insanity going hand in hand.

Kudos to the developers for merging different puzzle types into one new and exciting concept. Puzzlejuice lacks flash and playing on the iPhone is a challenge (small letters), but it more than makes up for that with engaging play. Definitely one of the best brainteasers out there, and well worth a measly $0.99.
