Ok, you can say that God of War: Ascension is less epic than the previous chapters and it lacks somewhere in terms of narrative and news ideas, but if you dig further you can find a much improved gameplay, a compelling adventure and some of the most incredible boss fights you can ever face in a videogame.

Badland is easily one of the best iOS games of the year so far; an atmospheric, beautiful, cruel little gem that really shines and shows the quality of this talented 2-guy team.

Gameloft has boosted the FPS genre on mobile devices... again. N.o.v.a. 2 is not only the most important game in its Winter lineup, but it's also the best first person shooter on iPhone and iPod Touch, thanks to an impressive multiplayer mode and a single-player campaign that combines a great control scheme with an extremely rare graphics. Of course, the game lacks of originality, while the plot is not so catchy. But it's an insignificant flaw, mostly if compared to the overall quality of the title.

With its evolutions in graphics and level design, Dead Space 2 represents a "more of the same" in its best expression. Scary, challenging and entertaining, the Visceral's game confirms itself as the new paradigm of the survival horror genre.

LittleBigPlanet is a perfect fit for PlayStation Vita. The new gadgets and the new materials expand all the possibilities already seen in LBP2, in what is probably the best game in the series.

Nothing is more addicting than Jetpack Joyride: an easy concept to understand but a long lasting gameplay to master. And with its price, it would be a crime to not buy it.

The GTA IV trilogy ends with a bang, with a strong come back of the verve and over the top adventures that made most of the best GTA moments. Seeing this episode, makes you believe that Rockstar could go on producing expansions forever, or at least till the new hardware generation will surface.

Darksiders is a perfect example of how a videogames should be made: very well balanced gameplay, a lot of variety, artistically sublime. Even if the game lacks of any extra after you finish the main story, we highly recommend it, also because it's so close to great classics like Metroid Prime.

Luigi's Mansion 2 is a fantastic adventure full of charm and personality, with gorgeous graphics and more than enjoyable mechanics. Assassin's Creed II is not only a welcomed tribute to Italy, but also a videogame that has improved almost everything from the previous game. Graphically beautiful, with a great story, a lot of things to do and some cool ideas (like Auditore's Mansion), the last game from Ubisoft is finally a compelling game, that everyone should at least give a try. Obviously there are many things that still need to be improved, like AI and combat system, but as far as we can tell, the game is a must buy even for his gameplay, apart from the surroundings.

Shogun II is a great game, able to resume, improve and innovate many of the aspects that made the franchise one of the most appreciated in the world of real-time strategy games. The only true failure is an artificial intelligence that doesn't always impress, but somehow this aspect is compensated for by a much deeper multiplayer component.
