Grand Theft Auto IV delivers on most of the huge expectations placed on it. The graphics are beautiful next-gen quality, the storyline is a solid piece of writing and manages to feel serious yet entertaining, but most of all the game's environment is amazing. There's so much to do in Liberty City that the game quite literally offers something for everyone. [June 2008]

Super Mario Galaxy is full of imagination and character. It looks and sounds great and the controls are both versatile and accurate. The only negative is the low difficulty during the first half of the game. Even with that it’s still the best platformer since Mario 64. [Dec 2007]

BioShock gets everything right with the storyline and the setting. Rapture is a seriously creepy place to be in. While the combat differs from a standard first person shooter, Bioshock's extra tricks do not require much creative thinking. The same routine of hacking everything in sight to bits and setting oil slicks on fire just keeps on repeating over and over again. A pity, really. [Sept 2007]

Contains some of the best moments ever seen in first person shooters. Half-Life 2 is a true classic and would be worth getting for Xbox 360 or PC even without the additional features of The Orange Box. Mass Effect 2 gives you an opportunity to play a role, but I'd be hesitant to call it a role-playing game. So what is it exactly? A really robust action-adventure? Can't tell for sure, but once you get past the fact that you're not playing a RPG you really can't help but to enjoy what game has to offer. Mass Effect 2 is truly a genre-defying masterpiece. The world is full of one trick AAA games, so any big title that manages to shake up the clear-cut genre barriers should be considered a welcome exception. For all intents and purposes, The Last of Us is a breakthrough title. It's enjoyable as a full-on shooter, a stealth game, an action adventure and a stat-building RPG. Red Dead Redemption is by far the best western game ever made. The world is superbly detailed and believable place. Gears of War has graphics to die for, but very little else. The singleplayer storyline utterly failed to hold my interest. Marcus Fenix shifts to third Gear, but the game stays the same. Graphics are stunning, but the desperate last fight of humanity is still far from dynamic and the paper thin plot fails to meet its premise. The ten hour trip to Sera is spent almost entirely in trenches, once again. [Oct 2011]

A very good multiplayer FPS. The warzone mode is an excellent idea. Some vehicles and a little more visual variation would be nice, though. [Apr 2009]

Here’s something that came out of the blue – a superhero license that's brilliant! Arkham Asylum is a great mixture of exploration, brawls and sneaking. With a good story, great cast and style it's also thoroughly polished. [Aug 2009]

A well made traditional fantasy RPG, even though the marketing department in Bioware would have you think otherwise. The world is well fleshed out and the story is traditional, but still interesting. The game lacks the truly epic atmosphere and realistic looking actors of Mass Effect, but it still manages to be great fun. Big plus for surprisingly challenging combat, which you don't see that much nowadays. [Nov 2010]

A very good action RPG in a sandbox-like Hyrule. The game features a redefined equipment progression along with the nice flattening trick. It's a bit on the easy side, though. [Dec 2013]

With freedom comes great responsibility. With a lush world for free-roaming and with freedom to execute your objectives Far Cry 3 delivers. The story missions and characters are not of the same standard but are also not a big annoyance. [Dec 2012]

One of the best games for Xbox: good missions, excellent story and puzzles. The biggest and perhaps the only problem is the inconsistent framerate. [Jan 2006]

Having played Diablo titles exclusively on the PC, I was surprised to find out how well Diablo III plays on PlayStation 4. The gameplay is as addictive as ever and it's hard to fault the console version's local co-op and supersized loot drops. [Sept 2014]

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story features simply the best villain of video game history in Bowser, which is not half bad by itself, but what is best about the newest Mario & Luigi is the fact that it is a fantastic game. Be it the funny storyline of the game, its colorful characters or the diverse minigames, everything about this title is top notch. Bowser’s Inside Story is a great sequel to Partners in Time and one of the best games for Nintendo DS. [Nov 2010]
