A slightly scattered action game with an interesting strategic sideline, Bug Heroes 2 gets a little lost in itself sometimes, but it's still worth a crack.

A superb re-creation of a popular and unusual Dungeons & Dragons board game, with excellent usability, tough AI opponents and little multimedia tweaks that really add to the experience.

Mario takes on the roleplaying genre again and comes up trumps once more. Mario & Luigi is a carefully crafted adventure that's worth exploring even if you're not a huge fan of the classic platformers.

Nintendo again shows that it's the master of its own hardware with another sublime entry in the Zelda lineage. If you own a DS then this is an utterly essential purchase - it really is that simple.

Another slice of exacting, unadorned tactical play from Shenandoah, Drive on Moscow doesn’t tinker much with Battle of the Bulge’s mechanics, but its new setting makes for an equally worthwhile challenge.

Steamworld Heist excels at what initially seems like a potential weakness, removing a dimension from the typical 3D battlefields of XCOM and similar games. But its brand of 2D tactics only makes positioning, smart strategy, finding effective synergies between weapons and classes, that much more crucial and satisfying when you survive against overwhelming odds.

It might not have the scope of more traditional RTS games, but that's not what Iron Marines is looking to do. It wants to take the meat of the genre, throw in a few mobile twists, and then plonk the whole kaboodle into the palm of your hand. And it manages to do that with some real gusto. It's fun, it's deep, and it's almost certainly going to make you exclaim with joy. Iron Marines is the mobile RTS that we've been waiting for, and it's a little bit brilliant.
