Obviously not every game on this disk is going to score a winner with every player and some Sonic games are renowned for being bad but nobody can grumble about what is on offer here. A must for any serious gamer.

While it still has the old “Sims Time” problems it is fun to play and offers gamers enough new objects and game variety to keep the title fresh up until next year when the whole thing will start over again with "The Sims 2."

What makes this game a winner for me is the fact that it combines two of my favourite genres brilliantly and manages to achieve the best of both.

Despite my complaints Desert Rats vs. Afrika Korps puts in a good performance and is worth a look, especially if you like strategy games that require you to think fast and react quickly to events on the battlefield.

Magicka may have its problems such as certain areas being overlooked, but it does undoubtedly provide an enjoyable experience. Mainly due to its interesting spell system, just proving that not all good games are hyped up months before they arrive.

Despite some linear missions the game tends to ooze replay value in the form of freedom and variation.

The gameplay however is a little slow and involves far too much back tracking for its own good and things often get tedious.

Shadow of Rome unfortunately doesn’t quite manage to pull it off with an excellent fighting engine for Agrippa but poorly designed stealth missions for Octavianus which you cant help but wonder why they tried to implement it in the first place.

One of the very few management games that actually allow players to get up close to the action and you can really feel part of what is going on.

This game is the game that the original Japanese release was supposed to be and anyone who has been waiting in anticipation should be satisfied with the finished result.

It does a lot to build on the tactics focused gameplay found in the original game with improvements in the enemy AI, this bundled with the difficulty and size of the missions should provide plenty of intense strategy action despite the complete absence of a multiplayer mode.

It doesn’t offer as much input into the game as university does but its still worth having and adds a load of new features to stretch the games fun-life out that little bit further!

At the end of the day, The Urbz is not "The Sims" and although similar in some respects, Sims fans may not like everything they find in this game, especially some of the major changes such as far less emphasis on home building and practically all emphasis on popularity.

Despite being a massive fan of the franchise I couldn’t help but feel that the whole thing is starting to get old, despite the new features the games structure is basically the same.

It seems ironic that in Square Enix’s attempts to make a game appealing to fans of two genres they have actually created a game that features pretty standard gameplay and may not attract its intended audience.

One of the better tennis games to grace the PS2, and is by far the truest representation of the sport.

In all fairness it’s a title that is probably geared towards the more experienced MMORPG gamer who should get a lot of enjoyment from the title, while more casual gamers or those new to the genre may find the experience a little daunting.

Whilst the game can offer a certain joy of ownership for a fraction of the cost, those who are not passionately interested in motoring in general won’t want to put the required effort in.

At first glance, Etherlords II looks pretty much like an RPG title, but take a few moments to play and you’ll soon discover an absorbing turn based strategy game similar to "Magic: The Gathering."

The game is challenging enough without been overly difficult and thanks to the random re-generation of the castle and its contents predictability is kept to a minimum.

One of those games where even though you keep getting killed you can't help but go back for more just to progress that little bit further.

So, what is it really like to be an evil genius? Well you can have a fantastic lair, hordes of loyal workers and tons of money but to be honest, it can be boring at times, you see, the truly evil one never gets to do any of the dirty work, they just sit and watch; and what makes it worse is workers that don’t seem to have much between their ears making the ‘watching’ a frustrating task.

While it offers many unique race types that will provide short periods of fun the game fails to captivate you for long periods of time and as a result the it quickly loses its appeal despite the amount of variation it offers!

Unfortunately the strict timing required can lead to a lot of frustration and as a result the game can quickly start to feel repetitive.

An undeniable classic somewhat ruined by a terrible, terrible (though unavoidable, really) control system, accompanied by a few fun extras showing off what the console can do.

There are some things I loved about the game and equally the same amount of things I found irritating. It’s hard to recommend to fans of third person shooters in general. But, fans of the movies and story driven games will definitely find the game more appealing.

On the whole, this is an enjoyable, beautifully presented and well-planned reinvention of a classic game, that retains the fun of the original but also caters for today’s modern gamers and casual gamers, especially with the obvious and liberal use of the big signs that tell you which transformation you need to use, thankfully these are not over-used allowing some experimentation.

Killing Floor isn't the most polished first person shooter on the market. However, it does offer one of the better co-op experiences, with excellent shooter mechanics, intense action and a good community that will keep you coming back for more.

Aliens vs. Predator may not have met my expectations or fond memories of the 1999 original and I can’t help feel a little disappointed in this game which feels like it needed more time to refine and think out some core ideas.

IL2-Sturmovik is a solid aerial combat game that is accessible enough for anyone to pick-up and play, whilst still offering hardcore simulation fans the option to play the game in a fashion they feel comfortable with.

The football side of things is fairly solid, but sadly the game includes too many duties that simply aren’t part of being the manager of a football club. All in all, this is a mixed package and as I said at the beginning I found it hard to get into. It is an RPG that taken on its own merit is an interesting experiment of combining elements of MMORPG into a console game.

Deathspank is a solid and eminently playable slice of RPG gaming, and fans of Diablo, Baldur's Gate and the like might truly enjoy the opportunity to play a lightweight comedy homage to past favourites.

Simply, "Metal Gear Solid" was a slice of videogame perfection, "Metal Gear Solid 2" was too similar to its predecessor, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater has tried to shake things up a little, admirably so, but has been a little too revolutionary in the process.

While the game can be entertaining for short lengths of time playing for prolonged periods can lead to bouts of frustration as you are more often then not required to play the same missions over and over until you clear them due to the strict objectives and randomness of missions.

The foundations for one of the finest shooters ever are laid down here and there are some wonderful cinematic moments but unfortunately most are tarnished with the numerous bugs which plague the game.

The unforgiving nature of the game and the constant restarts of certain areas are bad enough but add the constant unskippable cutscenes that you are forced to watch in full every time you die just tips it over the edge for me.

The cosmetic changes made to "Dead or Alive 2" do provide a level of intensity most beat 'em ups cannot reach. After the first few hours though, the wow factor will decline, leaving very little else in its place.

As a single player title the game feels a little hacked together and is hard to recommend to anyone other then the most hardcore Resident Evil fans.

The physical separation of human opponents makes every multiplayer contest a little less worthwhile, whilst the one-player game’s mission to collect track parts seems pointless if you then cannot share the resulting new tracks easily with close friends.

The game feels fairly lacklustre and gets old fairly quickly.

If the level design and path finding was a little easy I would be happy to say that this game was brilliant for the kids but in all honesty, I feel even they would get fed up of playing after an hour or so.

Magna Cum Laude is a bore to play, repetitive mini-games, constant loading screens in-between locations and no challenge whatsoever makes this experience a very tiresome one indeed.

It has its gimmick transformers style morphing and some of the fighting can be quite addictive but there is nothing here that separates it from any other FPS out there, pretty standard stuff with a big licence name.

I’d like to see developers scrap these constant installments completely and remake a one off Harry Potter game. Maybe one that tells the whole story, obviously in a very watered down fashion. One good game is better than seven clones of the same mediocre game.

This game promised so much but for me it failed to deliver overall. Dull and repetitive objectives and a lacklustre story combined with some unfair and inconsistent AI makes the short single player mode an uninspired stroll through corridor filled levels.

Overall Phantasy Star Portable will only appeal to fans of the franchise. There’s simply not enough to entice most to play, mainly to its repetitive nature and the depth it requires to get the most out of the title.

The game modes are nice and varied and the graphical style is great, however the actual tennis games tend to descend into uninspiring baseline games, especially with the computer.

J&D feels too safe, too 2001, and I couldn’t help but feel that my time would be better spent elsewhere.

For a game with such a new perspective and new approach to the MySims franchise, the ideas it incorporates are used so much that they become old after the first few hours of play, which is disappointing and means that this never fully achieves its full potential.

It is a decent effort that does plenty right and very little wrong, any NFL fan would be quite happy with this arcade-like version of a classic game mechanic.

The game shows a chronic lack of progression, which eventually leads you to question whether or not the admittedly imaginative concept should really have been made into a videogame at all.

A sub-par gameplay experience with awkward controls, an annoying camera and very basic driving experiences. The original game got away with it but now there is no excuse.

The game offers absolutely nothing new and plays like something that’s been dragged up from the 90’s.

Due to its overall poor design the game seems to of become nothing more then a mass of space shooting sequences.

This title has the dubious honour of being the most cynical, poorly produced mess that I have clapped eyes on for at least five years.

Attention is all too often drawn to missed opportunities in the game, the most glaring of these being a multiplayer mode. Imagine the frustration if "Bomberman" was only one player. This is often how you feel in NFH.

Something that will prove infuriating regardless is the utter unfairness of the game’s final boss, a confrontation that only serves to highlight the game’s major problems.

The third issue to be dealt with is the game’s poor AI and atrocious collision detection, items that cry out to be dealt with as a pair.

The heart of a point and click adventure is its puzzles and Black Mirror does this badly forcing players to go backwards and forwards in seemingly pointless treks and it all adds up to a feeling that you are simply playing a role in a very boring movie, you don’t control your character, just guide him through the motions.

The game also lacks any real variation as you pretty much do exactly the same thing throughout, prolonged play quickly becomes tiresome and the game starts to feel, dare I say it, like a chore.

An interesting idea that fails spectacularly. Not only does the central concept reduce each match to an almost painful war of attrition, but Team 17 seem to have concentrated so heavily on making its new gimmick work correctly that the rest of the game has fallen by the wayside.

Dark Void is probably going to go down as one of the most disappointing titles of the year, after all of the expectation and hype. With a bit more time spent polishing and developing key elements and its story this could have become a “classic” as the potential is their for all to see, however in its current form it will sadly slip into the void of mediocrity that has claimed so many third person shooter in the past.

For someone looking for a decent adventure game, they could do a lot worse than this, but I found it to be an uphill struggle thanks to the lack of horror, slow pacing and over emphasis on combating evil spirits even the boss battles fail to mix things up enough in my opinion.

The key criticism to level at Tiger on the PSP is that EA have tried too hard to squeeze the full home experience into a UMD, evidently a step too far for the poor little handheld.

The experience does improve when played with friends and fans of the last game may want to give it a try other than that it is hard to recommend.

The only problem I can and would raise is that although it shows you what to do, your form or stance maybe wrong when tackling some of the exercises. Also the resistance band provided seems cheap and flimsy, so much so that I could not trust it for some of the exercises.

Overall, the lack of variety in terms of events and lack of any single player modes apart from the challenge mode makes this a well presented package but ultimately a disappointing one!

The multiplayer aspect does offer some hope, but this is definitely one title that seems destined for the scrap heap.

Whilst Kinect Joyride does offer some fun moments, the fact you never really feel in control this is' very short lived…probably just like the game will be in your collection.

Sonic Free Riders serves up a rather disappointing playing experience and everything it gets right is pulled down by the clumsy and sluggish controls that do nothing other than make it feel like you're not in control. Despite initial optimism and potential this is one of the weaker Kinect launch titles.

Deadly Premonition has developed something of a cult following, but for me the good bits were always overwhelmed by the bad.

The dodgy camera, the impossible shooting set-up, the annoyingly slow stealth mode and the lack of a decent story! For the first time ever for me, I can say that there is nothing good about this game.

Everything here is too frantic, too rushed. You’re given a split second to make a decision that should take a multiple of three or four more time therefore you rush, you make mistakes unnecessarily and then you get mad. Avoid.

The point of Fight Club was not just the fighting, it was a lot deeper than that yet the developers seem to have completely missed the point and it shows in this empty and confusing mess of a game.

So the popular Internet game has failed to make a smooth transition to Nintendo’s handheld, providing a frustrating experience with the only real highlight being its level creation mode.

But sadly, Ride simply lacks the same quality providing and unimaginative playing experience that never seems to get out of the blocks and you may feel you’ve being taken for a ride with this game, especially considering its price!
