Many people started to complain that the onslaught of guest stars was a deterrent to the show's third season, but I loved all of it. Oprah and Jennifer Aniston were both hilarious, and even though Tina Fey was busy on Saturday Night Live with her killer Sarah Palin impersonation, it didn't affect the the creative perfection on display here.

This is the season that made me fall in love with 30 Rock. I think this is probably the show's finest hour. For the most part every episode is hilarious (every sitcom since the beginning of time has never had a perfect season, yes, not even Arrested Development, and certainly not Seinfeld) and the show has such a manic, exciting feel that you just can't help but succumb to it. Man, I could watch "El Generalissimo" on repeat all day (hyperbole, of course). Expand

hands down the best sitcom on tv at the moment, just as good if not better than arrested development .

Brilliant Humor, off the wall jokes, deep rooted politics, random guest appearances. This show should be the model for all TV shows.

Cleverest, most consistent comed on television. Has the same subversive, self-referential qualities as Arrested Development and the same sort of off-kilter humour. Can't wait for the fourth season!

Such a funny show. I don't see how anyone could believe that it is unfunny. It's probably the funniest show on TV. Keep it up Fey and gang!

Even the most ardent fans of 30 Rock will concede that it doesn't look its sharpest as its third season opens. Only the most churlish will be much put out by this, though. A relatively flat episode of Tina Fey's backstage farce is still the fizziest thing in prime-time comedy.
  2. Two episodes NBC made available to critics prove this series is ready to scale even higher comedic heights and that the brightest spot on the planet is not the light atop the Luxor but the writers' room of 30 Rock.
  3. The show's droll and mostly apolitical humor fits the exaggerated characters well, it's still got a good fast rhythm, and the five major players work well as an ensemble.
