Archer is the rare show that's in love with its own wordplay and good enough that this love becomes endearing rather than annoying.
It's fun, but it's best in moderation.

A lot of the reviews say that Archer isn't for everyone - and that is spot on. It definitely isnt. But personally I find it to be the most consistently funny show on the TV. The casting is superb, the animation is great and despite being a cartoon you find yourself being drawn into the world. You'll know by the end of the pilot if you like it or not. So watch it and go from there :)

Easily one of the funniest animated shows with plot. Each episode is hilarious. The cast is perfect and it's just so funny. Each episode leaves you wanting more.

Archer is funny. If you don't agree after the first episode, keep watching. You might try drinking a little coffee or having a doughnut before you tune in, though, because the zingers fly by pretty quickly.
Based on this preview, though, Archer gives FX something that the drama-heavy channel hasn't enjoyed for awhile--namely, a sharp comedic arrow in its quiver.
Though future episodes don't quite measure up to the brilliant pilot, Archer nurtures a collection of recurring themes that pile up and become funnier the more they are referenced through the episodes.
Suffice to say that Archer will probably appeal to viewers who like their comedy literate, demented and subversive.
The new series boasts eye-catching animation and dollops of sex and violence but only enough humor to elicit occasional chuckles. If you eliminate the references to sexual perversions, even the smiles are few and far between.
I find this show absolutely hilarious. The animation is well done but really, its the writing and the voice talent that sells the product. Even the secondary characters are fun to watch.

SEASON 1
Archer is a passable long-running animated series, first season 2009, hitting its stride by the third in 2012. Animation isn't the most competitive genre once a show's novelty value is spent and only a handful of superb paradigm shows stay at the top of the food chain - The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, maybe Bojack Horseman. Archer isn't at this level but it's watchable, fairly consistent, good production quality and enough attention to sitcom story arc to keep an episode's momentum going between the jokes. Archer's humor is a familiar blend of undergraduate smart-assery, Generation X TV Land reverence, leavened with half-hearted Millennial offcuts for students, interns and technogeeks. There are other shows doing all these things better, but not so many that Archer isn't one of the better choices if you're looking to agreeably pass a few dozen hours you'll never get back. Grist for the mill.

This show is now that funny, a bit slow, and the stories are very very dry. I really do not see what people see in it. The main character I would describe as, annoying, and just makes me want to hate the show because it is about him. The lack of a strong story also makes be able to turn off the show any time.

Extremely boring. Its basically a "shock value" type show that revolves around vulgar topics just for the hell of it. Just empty writing to fill up time but it is not done very well. Other shows use shock value cleverly and in select spots to change the tone but this show is the same tone all the way through making it utterly boring. Writing is not smart at all and after watching 5 episodes, I felt like I was back in junior high school. I didn't fit in back then either because I just couldnt make myself that dumb no matter how hard I tried. Back then I just came off as condescending and now that i think back on it, I am glad I put those idiots in this place and that I did not fit into their groups. I am sure it has an audience, but that audience is definitely not someone with 2 (or more) brain cells that still work.
