so season 5:
basically past-climax season, and that`s its downfall... however, you know the saying that you measure things by comparison? so show me half as good tv series made past 202x-something...
besides, in memories of all those talented people who created amazing characters for us - gonna stick with 10/10, they deserved it! RIP to them.
Season 5 is named „Wheel of Fire“. Because they were not sure that they get this season greenlighted the mayor arcs were concluded in season 4. This means 2 things. Firstly it is a new start for another big arc that will be set up here. Secondly it is weaker than the previous seasons as a lot of material was used to end the show with a satisfying conclusion in season 4. A good decision by the way as many shows ended in a less than enjoyable way because the next season was canceled. Sadly it means also more improvising and it is the weakest season of the show. This means not garbage as there are still great ideas, characters, developments and stories. It has the strengths of the show. Maybe I am even to harsh because the former season set up the bars higher. Lets start with a set up: The conflict with the Shadows and Volons is solved and the elder races left the galaxy. They have given the baton to the younger races as teachers for the next races and say they can join them if they advance to their level. Earth has been liberated and both sides try to repair the damages. Sadly many people on both side fought for the same things. The Minbari civil war is over too and the worker caste is in charge. The races of the galaxy have formed an Interstellar Alliance and John Sheridan will be the president. This is the set up for the season and you see that most mayor points are solved. However some of the Shadows servant races might be a problem. It has the strengths of the show with great characters and development, good stories and a well crafted world and lore. Like I said it reaches not the levels from the other seasons. I want to thank Joseph Michael Straczynski here for his creativity and the show. Same goes for the whole cast of actors and characters. It was a great and intense ride and you all won me over. You have become my favorite cast of characters with only DS9 competing. Lets continue with my favorite episodes: “No compromises” sets up the new status quo and introduces Elizabeth Lochley who is the new captain of Babylon 5. Also a group of telepaths on the run from the Psi Corps lead by the charismatic Byron is introduced. “The very Long Night of Londo Mollari” for Londo and his growth. “A few from the Gallery” is a nice change in pace and shows Babylon 5 from the view of the small faceless people. Great idea and execution. “Secrets of Soul” continues with a story no one expected. After the twist I was amazed. It is bold, meaningful and something other shows would never do. A must see even for non fans. “Day of the Dead” for the idea, character characterization and good story. “The Ragged Edge” deals with G’Kar who has become larger than life because his diary / book was unbeknownst to him multiplied and millions are inspired. He does not want it. Great humor and story. “And all my Dreams, torn Assunder” and “Movements of Fire and Shadows” sets up the new menace, gives answers and new questions. “Objects in Motion” for Garibaldi, Theresa and the ending. “Sleeping in Light” for the conclusion for giving the conclusion that is satisfying and bittersweet. Overall this was still a worthwhile season and a great show. It deserved a place as one of the best science fiction shows ever made.

The 5th and final season that culminated with a conflict with telepaths. JMS was scrambling at the end to fill a 5th season he wasn't expecting. I actually prefer the cheesyness and growing pains of season 1 to this 5th season. I just despise the Byron character. BUT, if you made it this far you have to see it to the **** the final episode is great.
