Charlie and Lola is fun series targeted at preschool audiences about a boy named Charlie and his sister, Lola. Featuring a unique "collage" animation style and catchy background themes, the show follows the pair as Charlie helps out his often rather independent-minded sister, Lola. Lola can be rather firm-minded when it comes to things like not wanting to go to bed, or doing things on her own, but Charlie doesn't mind too much --- he knows how to come up with a creative solution to help Lola see a different point of view. Viewers can accompany the two as they travel to fantastic worlds using their amazing imaginations. The two siblings are joined by their friends Marv Lowe and his dog sizzles, Lola's best friend, Lotta, Marv's younger brother, Morten, and their various school friends and neighbors, including Arnold Wolf, Mini Reader, and Evie. Lola also has her own imaginary friend, Soren Lorensen.
Charlie and Lola is based on a series of books by Lauren Child, who works on the show as an associate producer. The series, beginning with I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato is a hit with both parents and children, both for the imaginative stories and the eye-catching cut-out / collage design. As the show continues, so do the books. A number of book releases based on stories from the TV Series are now available and more are coming. You can also find the series on DVD. A total of six have been released, with more scheduled.
Charlie and Lola originally premiered as a series of 11 minutes stories aired individually. Beginning with the second season, each episode now features two stories. The third season kicked off with "Everything Is Different and Not the Same" and is now airing, with exciting new stories and new voice actors for both Charlie and Lola.
