  • Summary: Law & Order creator Dick Wolf attempts to go for the younger demographic with this look at the personal and professional lives of seven assistant D.A.'s in New York City. You'll recognize some of the sets from the doomed "Law & Order: Trial By Jury."

  1. The series is smart and engrossing, though not in a particularly novel way, and that is not a bad thing.

The show has a sheen that's distinctive from Law [& Order]--young, exfoliated skin reflects light better from waxed court floors--and promises to be more fun than In Justice. [6 Mar 2006, p.41]

"Conviction" does exhibit a bit more creative promise than "Trial by Jury."
  4. If Wolf can keep his randy prosecutors focused on their work, he might have another modest success, but it doesn't look promising.
  5. The kids in Conviction have so much private life you wonder if you wandered into a Scream movie by mistake.
  6. When it comes to both character and story, there's really not much in "Conviction" viewers haven't seen before.

A far cry from Boston Legal or even The Practice, this is so clumsy in its mix of the procedural and the personal that it should barely be legal.

As a 27 year old (target demographic member) I thought this would be the show that replaced Friends as THE must see show of the week. There are so many poorly written courtroom shows out there. This one had the right balance of personal lives and professional drama to make for great viewing! Expand

Introduction of the characters was completely lacking, however the show content was very good and compelling.

Tired from the very beginning, this show does not have a drop of originality. The characters are just as bland as the plot. A total waste of time.
