Description: Popular comic Dennis Miller made a return to live television and the talk show format with this long-running HBO series. Like many other talk shows, it followed a consistent pattern throughout each episode. The beginning would see Dennis deliver a monologue that would eventually descend into one of his well-known Rants. Each Rant covered Dennis' feelings on the given episode's topic – which ranged from everyday issues to the then-newsworthy items of the day. Per his routines, The Rants featured typical use of swearing and pop-culture references. Afterwards, a special guest (usually a celebrity, a politician or an activist) would then appear (either in person or via satellite) to discuss their feelings on the given topic and debate it. Viewers at home were also sometimes given the opportunity to call in, as well. By episode's end, Dennis would cover various news stories ala his popular tenure as anchor of Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment. Dennis Miller Live proved much more successful than Dennis' previous talk show (the short-lived The Dennis Miller Show) – lasting nine seasons and 215 episodes. It also won several Emmys and other awards. The show is currently not available on DVD or aired in America. The Intro music is "everybody wants to rule the world" from the band Tears for fears and the band near the end when the news segment (aka the big screen) begins the song is called "civilized" by Rollins Band
