This is a pretty lively Whovian world.... Clara is the sunshine to the Doctor's sadness, and Coleman makes her shine.

Things progress with a superb pace in the premiere--something that many in season 8 failed to do--and set the tone for a far more successful set of episodes than those we saw in 2014.

The pairings of two-parters seem to work well, and they play on both the Doctor's and Clara's strengths. The 12th is less of a showman than the 10th and 11th, which I feel makes his speeches and actions more meaningful. The storylines seem to matter more than usual. They're rooting Doctor Who in timeless truths that matter now. It's less about the mythology of a great character and more about the world around that character than Moffat has ever demonstrated. The ideas are still marvelous, the acting is never boring and blended and there is always enough stuff to mindf*ck you until the episode end. All we need, forever, is some nice, pleasant faces to make everything shine and attach ourselves to everyone. Nothing bad to say, for now. Spoilers are coming... Expand

I am getting there, and liking him better but Eccleston was my first Doctor - made me love the show. I loved Tenant and Smith. Capaldi isn't there yet. I don't like all the two parters. I am not happy at the moment with last night's show. I am happy though for anything that gets me further away from that Sleep No More episode - worst writing in the history of Doctor Who. Best comment I read about that disgusting episode was that it would be followed by a monster created from used kleenexes and snot. ew. So I am waiting to see how this episode will be completed next week - making this a three parter. Expand

Capaldi was stronger, the show had better episodes with interesting plots and solutions. It was a fun season that I would watch again. 'Me', the final few episodes made for a classic season of Doctor Who and made me see how good Capaldi is.
Though, typical of any scifi show, it had some fairly weak episodes but overall a strong season.
