    Viewers barely get to understand the challenge before the designers' clothing is revealed in a gaudy runway show, featuring flashing neon lights and blaring music that are the opposite of stylish.

    In an attempt to distinguish itself from a dozen previous TV fashion competitions, which is not a bad goal, Fashion Star ends up feeling overly complicated and a little cluttered.
