The reliably hilarious supporting cast of family members and friends--quirky without being cartoonish--makes a creaky zit subplot forgivable.
  2. Horne and Page have sweet chemistry, but what makes the show work is the cast of eccentrics that Corden and Jones have created around them.
  3. It's amusing and knowing and will make some viewers smile, but it probably won't provoke gales of laughter. And that's fine. It's still more clever than most single-camera comedies ABC has put on the air in recent years.
  4. The most endearing comedy about love to come to television since the Manolos were packed up and put away.
  5. Gavin & Stacey is a gem of a show -- funny, touching and welcome proof that the romantic comedy can and will survive irony, Botox, Judd Apatow and all the vagaries of the modern age.

    [A] richly observed, mirthful series.

Fortunately, the series never veers terribly far from the central duo, each of whom--to borrow a bit of vernacular--is played in cracking fashion by Horne (from "The Catherine Tate Show") and Page ("Love Actually").

I'll be tell'n you for why. It's a cracking good show. The best brit com in many years. You'll laugh till it hurts. Nessa and Uncle Bryn are wonderful. And, Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, is lush. Bravo. Can't wait for the Christmas special to air along with season III. Expand

I don't understand what all the hype is about. I thought it was badly written. The characters are one-dimensional, not developing a lot during the series and Smithy is particularly revolting. Expand
