  1. It's broad, accessible comedy - the kind of show where you aren't sure what to expect, but once you sit down, you keep watching.

It’s the grade of funny this show seems to have accepted - cute, giggle-worthy, and only a smidgen dangerous.

Finding original humor in this tired old horse of a format may not only be difficult, but close to impossible.
  4. Sadly, these factors [Kevin Nealon, Catherine O'Hara and puppet animation] only amplify my disappointment in what, on the basis of one episode and a handful of clips, looks to be a weak and wheezy show.

Dentists can indeed be funny, but not when they're as toothless as Glenn Martin, DDS.

It's a format that just doesn't mesh with a laughtrack -- and when there's nothing particularly funny about what we're watching, it smacks of desperation.

But ignore the stilted jokes, the limp characterization, the complete lack of "re-imagining" of anything. Just understand this: Martin is an animated show with a laugh track.

Once the laugh track came off, I really began to appreciate it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. its a great show, funny jokes, dont get why some people criticize the animation, although it could go without that damn dog, aside from that the only people that dont like it ( or obnoxiously complain for that matter) are these over protective parents that dont recognize pure and simple comedy with an edge. Like a Sandler movie -- critics hate it, viewers love it.

Not a show for the 8 pm slot! Horrible language, references, very adult in nature. In 10 minutes of watching, we heard the words anus, rectum, hell, and other words not appropriate for any TV audience before 10 pm on Nick!! This show stinks!! In my family's opinion. What was Nick thinking???!!!! And Michael Eisner should of stuck with Mickey Mouse, this show lacks talent, amusement, and many other factors found in higher quality shows - destined to fail, we're sure. NICK, take it off the air, this show stinks!! Expand

Awful, just awful, (insert grating laugh track here), and just not funny. I agree with Ben L., that this show is not appropriate for kids, even at 8:00pm. Did Eisner even watch this show before it aired? Expand

My 8 yr old was watching this trash. Nick should be ashamed of themselves for airing this during family hour! I will block this from my television!!
