Shinn Asuka is a young Coordinator who lost his parents and sister in the previous war, when the Alliance attacked Orb. He has since joined ZAFT, and blames Orb's idealist ways for his loss.

This series focuses on his struggle to redeem himself, all the while questioning whether he is doing the right thing or not.

The animation is stunning and the story is intricate and the characters are really well developed - you'll really hate the outcome of some events but by the end you'll be cheering for Kira and Athrun. When I finished Gundam SEED, I couldn't wait to start SEED Destiny, and while Dstiny delivers just as well on all the same aspects as SEED, it's pretty much a duplicate of the original. It starts with gundams being stolen, Athrun goes to Zaft and is pitted against Kira again, and then he comes back to join Kira in a fight to stop a superweapon from destroying everything....just like the first series. There's even a copied Archangel ship, the Minerva, and Mu comes back to save the Archangel the same way he did before. The new characters are static and immature and they remain so until the end, unlike how Kira and Athrun changed in the first one. Not to mention the flashback episodes. I'd give the original SEED a 10. Destiny is a great series because the characters are are so interesting, but Destiny adds nothing new and has multiple filler flashback episodes (since the had to have 50 for some reason...). It's still great for fans though so I gave it an 8. Expand
