This is good bunk, fun bunk, energetic bunk. Much better bunk than the last volume.
  2. Based on the first action-packed and fun episode, it looks like Kring and crew have succeeded in pulling out of their sophomore slump.
  3. Mr. Kring has assured interviewers and fans that the third season will correct those mistakes and recover the fast-paced suspense and tension of the first season. The premiere episode lives up to that pledge, with lots of violence, special effects and laser-fast editing. The plot and ever-escalating conspiracies are hard to follow, but even first-time viewers can easily get the gist.
  4. The first hour of Heroes answers enough questions and moves the story forward in such a way that a few "Huh?" moments won't matter as long as they're answered in short order and don't linger for too long.
  5. Even just a half hour in, it's difficult not to wish everyone would just lighten the heck up. The graphic novel noir feel is becoming increasingly oppressive, and everyone is just so grim.

NBC sent the first hour of tonight's two-hour season premiere to critics, and it's sprinkled with some of the original fun: inventive special effects, a twist or two, some nifty gore. That doesn't stop it from being the same, familiar mess.

This show, which was once so thrilling and fun, has become full of itself, its characters spouting crazy nonsense.

I am loving season three so far. I'm a superhero uber-geek and this is what I look for in a show about "heroes". After suffering through I am loving season three so far. I'm a superhero uber-geek and this is what I look for in a show about "heroes". After suffering through the abomination that was season 2, season 3 is a breath of fresh air. We got rid of superfluous characters, (although I thought Adam got a raw deal), and the action has been ramped up big-time. Last season I dreaded each new episode but this time around Mondays can't come fast enough. I know there are a few annoying things as well, (too many Petrellis, some rather bizarre behaviour and bad dialogue for characters such as Claire and Peter), but I rally love the pace of season 3. Some of the characters really haven't grown such as Mr Bennett who has actually shrunk down to his only motivation and reason for living is his daughter Clare. The actor is doing the best he can with a 2 dimensional script. However, the character Peter Petrelli has been more enriched this season, as has the brother Nathan Petrelli. Expand

Volume Three "Villains" is considerably much better than Volume Four "Fugitives". All the characters' identities seem to have completely changed or taken a turn into the unknown in both volumes 3 and 4. There doesn't seem to be much interesting interaction between the characters. It's very much focused on "stopping the bad guy" rather than what made the first series good, which is an exploration of different characters' motives. Overall I'd certainly advise watching "Villains" but the Fugitives volume seems more like a brainstorm of ideas. You have all these chapters but none of them really connect to the end result. It's all a bit jumbled. Expand
