Some of the superheroes who will be introduced to the viewing audience include Peter Petrelli, an almost 30-something male nurse who suspects he might be able to fly, Isaac Mendez, a 28-year-old junkie who has the ability to paint images of the future when he is high, Niki Sanders, a 33-year-old Las Vegas showgirl who begins seeing strange things in mirrors, Hiro Nakamura, a 24-year-old Japanese comic-book geek who literally makes time stand still, D.L. Hawkins, a 31-year-old inmate who can walk through walls, Matt Parkman, a beat cop who can hear other people's thoughts, and Claire Bennet, a 17-year-old cheerleader who defies death at every turn. As the viewing audience is discovering the nature of each hero's powers, the heroes themselves are discovering what having superpowers means to them as well as the larger picture of where their superpowers come from. Tune in each week to see how these heroes are drawn together by their common interest of evading the series' antagonist who wants to harvest their super-DNA for himself. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world! The series will star Greg Grunberg (Alias), Leonard Roberts (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Milo Ventimiglia (Gilmore Girls), and Hayden Panettiere (Ally McBeal, Guiding Light). Tim Kring (Crossing Jordan, Chicago Hope) is the series' creator. The pilot is set to be directed by Dave Semel (American Dreams, Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, Beverly Hills, 90210). Heroes will be produced by NBC/Universal/Tailwind.Summary revised with help from: space-cowboy. Expand

It was still ok for me though and I wished it had been given one final mini-series after all the hope it brought to TV after Season 1. Expand

It's still worth watching, but ultimately the best part was also the shortest. There are 19 episodes and yet only the last 20 minutes or so are epic and exciting. The problem arises when entire episodes are filled with content which never links to anything else. I would only recommend watching this only if if you have time to kill, enjoyed the previous episodes and want to know where it ends (since season 5 has been cancelled). If you're not really bothered, there are better things to watch. Expand

My second review for this series is a comparison of viewer ratings. I believe it deserved the chance to get back on track with an interestingMy second review for this series is a comparison of viewer ratings. I believe it deserved the chance to get back on track with an interesting Series 5 that was more in tune with series 1. Vampire Diaries Series 1 only got 3.6 million viewers yet was renewed for a second season. Heroes season 4 had it's lowest viewers ever but still nearly doubled Vampire Diaries with 6.54 million viewers. Buffy had it's debut season at only 3.7 million viewers and peaked at 5.3 in Season 3 yet ran for another 4 seasons following this despite it's best coming in at 1.24 million viewers less than Heroes at its worst. Similar figures can be found for Charmed running for 8 seasons peaking in Season 1 at 5.5 million viewers and hitting a low of 3.5 million viewers in Season 7. Coming back to a more modern series is True Blood which only got 2 million viewers in its first series compared with Heroes 13.86 million in its first. Season 2 of True Blood 4.28 million and series 3 True Blood 4.97 million. Heroes worst season still got 1.57 million more viewers. So why was this series cancelled. Statistically it shouldn't have. Then the second season came and slowed things down and the only exciting and interesting character where Elle and her father Bob who were both great actors and the only reason I kept watching the show. next we have season 3 which got a little back on track with the characters and focus and then the writers do the most horrible thing to their story, kill Elle, who was probably one of the most interesting characters next to syler and Angela. season four was so hard to watch that I stopped after the first three episodes. It's ashame because this show had great potential and was put to waste. Expand
