It's coarse and sometimes dirty to the touch, but pretty damned hilarious at crunch times. FX just might have the standout new comedy series of this season.

Legit is legitimately and simultaneously raunchy, sweet and funny.

It's a charming series that feels like it has a lot of potential for growth, and not just because its main character has nowhere to go but up.

Obviously Legit isn't yet in the realm of Louie, one of the best comedies on television, but like Wilfred before it, the show is setting its tone early and hitting that aforementioned sweet spot impressively.

The show has a scruffy, adolescent sweetness with a seeming insensitivity to people with physical disabilities that ultimately feels quite sensitive.

It's crude, shocking and politically incorrect on a cosmic level. And that's just part of what makes Legit so damned funny.

Legit is the sort of comedy that lets its heart beat once an episode.

The 13-episode Legit fits right in at the male-skewing cable network known for pushing the envelope with edgier, unconventional fare.

This show isn't art quite yet, but it's artful. Tiresome as it sometimes is, there's something to it.

Jefferies' comedy is by turn smart, obvious, thoughtful and irritating, and quite as much may be said of his series--though his stage demeanor (loud, brash and in control) is softened considerably here by dint of his being a character living among other characters.

Their [Jim and Billy's] relationship deepens as the series continues, and while I'm not sure there's an actual series in this set-up, for now Legit achieves a legitimately engaging balance between the shockingly grotesque and the genuinely heartfelt.

Legit proves periodically funny, and oddly charming. And as elusive as both of those qualities are in primetime, that alone makes it too legit to quit.

Odd, crude and strangely charming, Legit won't be for everyone. But fans of FX's other comedies should definitely give it a try.

Legit comes off as appalling at first but after a few episodes, you get used to how awful Jefferies is and the show even allows for a few skewed, sweet moments.

The question is whether it has any depth or insight to offer once it [raises your eyebrows]. The evidence provided by the first three episodes is inconclusive.

Legit--and I say this with a certain amount of admiration, coupled with trepidation that some new program on the spring schedule will soon prove me wrong--is the most degraded, debauched and degenerate show on TV.

The series is a nearly unbearable assemblage of recycled sitcom plots that aims to spotlight Jefferies's specific breed of unashamedly mean-spirited witticisms.

What an edgy politically incorrect show on every level. But it's honest with heart and raw emotions. Love Jim. Great supporting cast with Dan, DJ, and Mindy. They bring it all to a level of heart, soul, love and hilarity!!!! Give this show time to grow. Can't wait to see what else Jim's life is all about. Full Review »

This show is hilarious! I didn't want it to end. Looking forward to more episodes. Finally something good to watch on Thursday nights. Great cast of characters and you can tell this show is going to deliver. I also liked how they used some great music in it. I was dying laughing when Jim said to the hookers "I'm sorry, its just the type of people that you are" Full Review »
